How anyone can watch the images of the fire and the thousands and thousands of people fleeing for their lives then make such sickening comments is absolutely beyond me. Where is the compassion and empathy? Yet even as pukes like this take the opportunity to talk about climate change, Albertans are showing they care by opening homes, hotels, motels, campgrounds free of charge to the the evacuees.

ecotards are ecotards. Anything for the cause. Look at our own Cliffy ... he must be downright ecstatic right about now.

BTW. Thoughts and prayers for all affected. When witnessing the power of nature it is painfully obvious how powerless man is to change the course of nature.

Truly horrific conditions in Ft Mac.

It's a great study of humanity that we get to see posters exhibiting their complete and total ignorance.

Tea and sympathy from our government but no concrete word on what they will do to help the situation in the Fort. Apparently it will take as long as two days for the military to deploy though apparently there are troops in Wainwright who have been on maneuvers. Our Pm suggests that folks send money to the Red Cross - though hundreds of Canadians have all ready been doing just that. Considering that this fire did not just blow up yesterday, I have to wonder why it is taking the gov so bloody long to do something.

In the case of forest fires it has been shown that fire prevention with no effort to clean the debris from the forest floor shows that the un-natural build-up results in a more severe fires than if nature had been allowed to so 'smaller burns' on her own. The reasoning behind that if from the Yellowstone wild fires.

Did the majority of the help for Slave Lake a few years back show up before the town was on fire or did it arrive after the fire had passed??

Good question, MHZ, I'll look into that when I get back home from work. In the meantime whatever happened in Slave Lake does not mean that this government had every opportunity to step and do something now for the town and folks of the Fort. If they weren't being apprised of the situation on a daily if not more frequent basis then that is a failure on their part.

Some of that petroleum in your computer and quite possibly other household items you own came from the tar sands. Maybe you should light your home on fire to exercise the hypocrisy.

Do you own a vehicle? Just wondering.

Of course he does. Old truck that has no chance of passing either a safety or pollution inspection. But he lives in the middle of nowhere where there are no inspections of any kind so it's OK.

Now that is karma.

Hmm...wouldn't someone who believes in Karma be treading a dangerous path to let such heartless crap spill past their lips?

Same people that will spike a tree and smile when a logger gets maimed. Because they are leftards they believe the cause is righteous and the the end justifies the means.

Amazingly no one has been so much as injured, so far, in the largest evacuation in the province's history. Some 80,000 people have fled the city.

What are you expecting, that the PM and other MPs will grab fire extinguishers, and head right out?

What are the troops supposed to do, are they trained firefighters? If not, they'll be more of a danger.

Our troops do get firefighting training. THey have a problem with logistic though. To plan a 3 day canoe trip for 8 people took them 3 days of planing.

I would gather you were out of the country last year when parts of Sask were going up in smoke but thanks to the military things finally came under control. The military has often been used in situations such as this. As for the government, they can do more than simply offer sympathy and tell folks to donate to the Red Cross. They can stand up and tell Albertans that they are doing everything in their power to help the people, the firefighter and the city of Fort McMurray.
