Have the company support be an advance on their ability to get a heads up up all the contracts coming up that they might be interested in bidding on. The voters can use that list to decide who gets who their business and who gets boycotted.

To quote a tired old phrase, "Money is the root of all evil", and in the case of politics it couldn't be more appropriate.
There is also a saying that you cannot start an 'honest company' if the original funds are 'tainted funds'. Leave bribery in and take away the secrecy part and that is about as level as you can make the playing field so the voter/consumer has the final say simply because they are the largest group, by far.

And sh-t fights.

I'm an alien. I got on the Area 51 bus thinking it was the Area 51 B-Line.
They offer you a tall cold green drink as soon as you got to the (Bee-Line) brothel??

Is anybody familiar with the organizational structure of Alcoholics Anonymous? Put aside any preconceptions you might have about them for a moment and consider this:

They call themselves an "upside down organization" in that decisions are made at the group level and the various unpaid group/regional/area representatives are tasked with getting the thoughts of the group to the international level where decisions are instituted, and info on the issues at hand back down the line to the groups. Hence informed decisions are made by the people they directly affect. Donations from outside the group are prohibited, everything comes out of the pockets of the members. The whole system is designed to keep individual ego and agenda out of the picture and to deal directly with the business of keeping the organization running as smoothly and efficiently as is possible for what is, in fact, a couple of million recovering alcoholics. Not at all unimpressive when you think about it, especially the parts that keep the group reps accountable to those they represent, and keep their efforts focused on the issues at hand.

I would be happy if political wannabees didn't get taxpayer money.

That's the whole point. Running a campaign doesn't have to be a million dollar project, making it a "rich guy wins" thing is totally against anything like fair play. Make media outlets responsible for supplying coverage to all candidates equally and free, part of their licensing requirements. This whole back room bargaining thing is just an open invitation for favoritism and corruption. Contributions from individuals only, and a firm limit on the size of those.
