As you get older the one thing for me that I notice the most is the passing of those who were a part of your life . This little lady of television and movies I really liked. Her performance as Helen Keller in the Miracle worker earned her an academy award. She also played a key role in the movie "The Valley of the Dolls". But I liked her most in the TV sit com The Patty Duke Show. I don't know I guess there was just something about her that I liked and I don't really know what it is. I can't pinpoint anything. She reminded me of a girl that I liked when I was just a boy. Sitting in front of the tv as a boy watching the Patty Duke Show I can remember thinking just one thing. "She sure is pretty." Rest in Peace Patty Duke".

I remember her well, from a very young girl, beautiful eyes, very pretty, she had a bit of a
up and down life, seems she suffered from that ailment where you go up way too high, then come
down crashing far too low, but I think a bit later in life they got a handle on that problem.

great actress.

Patty suffered from bipolar disorder and became a great spokes person for those who suffer from mental illness.

She was a young, pretty and fun presence, when I was a little boy.

RIP to a lovely girl.

Patty's Son Sean Astin is a duplicate of his mother. He is like his mother was, a fine actor. If you ever have the chance to watch the movie "Rudy", you see what I mean. I'm betting Patty is very proud of her son.

I always liked her esp since the character she played on TV was from Brooklyn where I grew up. Of course, her family was upper class and I am strictly ghetto. Still, she was the dream-girl-next-door that never materialized in my life except on tv.

RIP

I admired Patty Duke as an actor.
Patty Duke was an outstanding woman.

It is a shame that we never saw the full potential as an actor.

Bipolar is a cruel, cruel disease, and those of us who are also suffering are grateful for the work she did in educating people in the disease.

I hope that she has finally found her peace.

His role as Sam in the Lord of the Rings trilogy would have made her proud.

it is true, that Sean Austin, is a wonderful actor.
I have not seen any other of his movies, except for Rudy.
Rudy is one of my favourite movies. I have watched it several times.
Even so, I cry when it comes to the end.
Rudy, Rudy, Rudy.

Today I watched an episode of Patty Duke show which featured Carole Shelyne - Patty voluntarily gave up her role as class president so that Carol could run in her place ~ great episode

that's her to the right - for years she was known as the girl with the goofy glasses and was very funny
