I would never have thought I'd ever own a ford (our sayings were Fix Or Repair Daily). Neither car or truck had a very good reputation.
Leased a Ford Van (can't remember the type) for 2 years - took out additional warranty - thank heavens - after 6 months the water pump went out at a cost of over $900! Swore I'd never lease again, or buy a ford. That was in the mid-90's.
Bought a 2003 Ford Focus wagon 2011 that still had warranty on it but still bought additional warranty 'cuz I wasn't too sure that I should even buy the damn thing but it only had 80,000 km on it and was in excellent shape and the price was right and I needed a car immediately. Turns out I absolutely love the car - it has "get up and go" for a little bugger, easy to park and the room I need. Not too bad on gas either. Fortunately, just before the warranty ran out all the electrical had to be replaced - thank god I took out the additional warranty because that would have been costly. Since then, have had no issues (fingers crossed).
So while I love my car, if I ever bought another Ford, I'd take out the additional warranty simply because of past experiences.
Hubby has a 2003 Silverado 3/4 ton and loves it. Has never had problems with it. Don't know if he'd ever go for the newer ford truck if it came to that but he does like my car. And, now that we have our trailer parked in an RV park, we don't use the truck as much as we used to either.
