I have learned to ignore all the environment stuff for the most part yes there
are some things we could do a lot better at because it makes sense not to
poison the world around us. On the other hand to believe we are the biggest
enemies of the planet and we are all doing our part to end climate change is
insane.
We should all walk to work go back to having factories hand make everything
and don't use dye's or makeup or bath too often or mow and water the lawn
garbage trucks pulled by humans cause horses pollute and no more of this
recreation it defiles pristine wilderness. Farming will be done in small plots with
no fertilizer It is said intense fruit and vegetable farming leaves a bigger footprint
than meat so into the wood all and hunt like the ancients and leave that cell phone
at home.
Someone otta write a book eh?

It encourages me to fill it to the tits. I hate BC too. The past 4 months have been worse than jail.

Wow, not a single supportive comment on Times Colonist site. It must be angry Albertans.
We only go out in the winter during chinooks. Why bother with such trivial matters such as you just mentioned? It is supposed to become the new California so the whole Straight is about to become the Bay of SanFrancisco equal. All ships head straight south until the land is green again as Baja will move north the same distance as the rains do.

Sell me Long Beach for $1 and I'll become a homesteader there. Farm the 'tourists'.

As someone who has lived here and other provinces I can see what you are blinded by. It was a great place to be and live but that is long gone.

US would have never sold out to China the way BC has. They've killed it. Ruined. It's now tacky and grotesque.

So you're saying the US hasn't sold out to China? They may not have so many Asian looking people on the street but the US is China's bitch, all the way to the bank via WalMart. lol. lol. lol.
Maybe we should cry instead of laugh and whine? The world is China's bitch really.

Take the pic above an transform it into LA where the houses are anchored to the hills in the background after they have been flatten so quakes don't cause slides. Comes under the term 'planning ahead'.

If they choose to lower their quality of life so be it. Why did you leave and would you come back?

A few reasons. Campbell got elected and I knew what he was going to do. My wife and I both lost our jobs when the company we worked for went belly up, there were no jobs, and I was offered a job in Calgary for a decent salary.

Would I move back to the coast? Nope, my wife has severe asthma that is exasperated by the high humidity. Here in Alberta, she breathes a lot better with the drier weather. It's better for her health here, and her well being is my first priority.

Makes perfect sense when it comes to breathing and clean fresh air. Other than that obvious reason would you return?

I'm not in the habit of speculating on things that can't happen. At 57, I'm looking toward what my wife and I can do as we approach retirement and what we will be able to do after that. Moving away from our 2 youngest isn't in the cards even if she was suddenly "cured". You want to speculate on fantasy, you go right ahead. I don't do that.

its a free country, can't stop people from coming here, especially when they come with lots of money,
and with all the Chinese in b.c., keeps us safe forever from any Chinese invasion, lol.

and also, there is nothing wrong with the Chinese, with the population they have, no wonder so many
of them choose to go elsewhere.

there are bad people of every race, including our pure white pale skinned, who want it all to themselves.

no I have never lived in another province, never have found any reason to do so, but this province is full
of people who have come here from other parts of the country. the military shows many the beauty and
moderate climate of b.c., and we have many military retirees, and many many others who have come from
the prairies.

we flew to Halifax a few years ago, because we wanted to see the whole country, and hadn't done so all of
our lives, so we took the train, and slowly came home,
stayed in montreal, Winnipeg, and jasper, learned
a lot, loved travelling through the prairies, appreciated the maritimes, got off the train in pr. George,
then took another to prince Rupert, then by boat to port hardy, and bussed home, great experience, loved
all of it, but coming home was very emotional and felt good.

we have a great country, with not too many people, I'm glad to live at this time before it gets too crowded,
like the u.s.

Come to the mainland for one day and count the number of times a brain dead, racist, arrogant chinamen ruins what would otherwise be an enjoyable excperience and tell me with a straight face that it's worth the pittance they bring with them.

Had you kept your drug use under control you probably wouldn't have lost your job as a farm laborer and you wouldn't have had to move back to your parent's house. Hopefully you've learned your lesson.
