Unfortunately, we'll likely never know if it was terrorism. Public policy is not to use the "term" as it may "paint" the wrong picture. We have to be politically correct yuh know.

For now, I'm inclined to believe that these two just didn't like the fact that it was a bar OR they just wanted to see how a "gun" works. I doubt if it was a targeted shooting as the video indicates, no time was taken before the guy started shooting, unless, of course, it was the bar itself that was the target. It could be any one or more of these reasons. It'll be interesting if we actually ever find out.

Never did hear this on the news I listened to on the radio, so obviously, when it comes to "Mohammad's" there's selective reporting.

You should go over to the "UK and Europe" section on unexplained-mysteries.com (Germany shocked by Cologne New Year gang - UK and Europe - Unexplained Mysteries Discussion Forums - Page 19) where some posters, who obviously belong to the same group of people who rule the Western world today, have been calling the Mohammedan rapists in Cologne "misunderstood" individuals from "a different culture":

"This is going to be blown up out of all proportion. There are bound to be misunderstandings when people of a different culture mix together."

So remember - these Mohammedan immigrants who have been raping white women in Germany and Finland and elsewhere in Europe in recent weeks don't deserve our scathing attacks and condemnation. They need to be supported as "misunderstood" individuals who come from a different culture to ours.

Ah gee, I'm sure boomer is going to be so disappointed, and I will bet "the rebel" will be very silent on this "development".

Some want to focus on the names of the alleged gunmen, trying to turn a big-city nightclub shooting into an act of terrorism.

But the only name that really matters is Kenneth Duru.

He was the innocent 38-year-old victim shot in the chest while standing inside a Beltline nightclub early Sunday morning, still glowing over his wedding last month, and probably in a mood for celebration.

Instead, Duru was left soaked in blood, and he remains in hospital simply for being in the path of a bullet fired randomly into the Ten X Nightclub.

“We are deeply shocked and saddened about the events leading to Ken’s injuries in the early morning hours of Sunday, January 10th,” reads a statement sent to the Sun by Duru’s employer, ECCO Recycling and Energy Corporation.

“We are a close knit team here at ECCO and Ken is well liked and respected both personally and professionally. This incident has deeply impacted all of us.”

Married just last month to his long-time sweetheart, the recent arrival from Stockholm, Sweden, was studying to become a full-fledged accountant, adding to an impressive list of degrees and a long employment history in Nigeria and Europe.

Duru is in stable condition and will live, but that’s down to matter of luck and mere centimetres.

“Our hearts, thoughts and prayers are with Ken, his family and friends during this difficult time. We all wish Ken a speedy recovery,” reads the statement from ECCO.

Duru is an innocent victim, with no links to any crime, or the men who shot him.

So the police investigation has determined.

Police are experts in their field, which is gathering all the evidence available, and putting forth the best and most logic hypothesis possible, based on interviews, forensics, profiles, physical evidence and their own experience and instincts.

They actually have to work for answers.

That’s why police, early in any investigation, tend to use phrases like “nothing has been ruled out,” and “we are examining all possibilities.”

For police, it’s a generic place holder — and seasoned reporters at police press conferences know not to read into such phrases, understanding that what they typically mean is, “Probably not, but give us a few more hours to confirm our hypothesis.”

Of course, seasoned reporters also cultivate sources, for off-record updates on the most likely scenario so far — and terrorism was very quickly ruled out as a hypothesis in Calgary’s weekend shooting.

Of course, the question was asked by reporters, and considered by police.

But cops on the scene were already connecting one suspect arrested on the scene to prior drug crimes in Calgary, and more importantly, had uncovered absolutely no evidence linking the gunfire to any sort of ideological motivation — a dictionary requirement of terrorism.

No responsible media outlet, knowing this, would suggest terrorism as a motivation, with zero evidence to back the claim.

To do so would cause needless public panic, and fear mongering is not the role of a responsible press.

Unfortunately, not all who report to the public are experienced, or responsible, or beyond grasping at straws — straws, such as the names of two suspects arrested at the scene, which happen to be Mohamed Elmi and Mohamed Salad.

If the guys in cuffs were Mike and Dave, there’d be no questioning of the police hypothesis, that this was some sort of revenge shooting, or a beef against the nightclub.

But Mohamed is often a Muslim name — and for unscrupulous opportunists looking for attention, that’s all the evidence needed to raise the spectre of terrorism.

Of course, some bought the ruse hook, line and sinker.

Even after this column runs, there will be a frothing few who still refuse to believe the logical conclusion to this case — that two men with Muslim-sounding names might just be ordinary scumbags, who put an innocent man in hospital.

Actually, I'm pretty sure I heard Ezra call it just an act of senseless violence, committed by a Muslim.
