The Arabic gang-rape 'Taharrush' phenomenon which sees women surrounded by groups of men in crowds and sexually assaulted... and has now spread to Europe

The Arabic term 'taharrush' roughly translates to 'collective harassment'

It refers to sexual assaults carried out by groups of men in public places

Surrounded by dozens of attackers, lone women are groped or raped

The phenomenon was first seen in 2011 when a reporter was attacked

Lara Logan endured an assault while reporting on the protests in Egypt

Police say attacks in Cologne marked Europe's first instance of taharrush

Police fear a gang-rape phenomenon known as 'taharrush gamea' in the Arab world and seen in attacks on women across German cities at the New Year has now spread to Europe.

The name of the practice translates to 'collective harassment' and is carried out by large groups of men who sexually assault lone women, either by groping, or in some instances, raping them.

The men first surround their victim in circles. Some then sexually assault her, while others not directly involved watch or divert outsiders' attention to what is occurring.

CBS reporter Lara Logan, photographed in Cairo's Tahrir Square moments before she was assaulted in 2011. Her attack was one of the first known instances of 'taharrush' to be reported in Western media

Sometimes the terrified victim - in a state of shock and unable to respond - is also robbed during the ordeal.

And the attack usually goes unpunished because the large number of perpetrators and chaos of the attack means authorities are unable to identify those involved.

There remains debate about what defines 'taharrush' - some still insist it is a reference to flirting - though scholars argue its definition changed after the attacks seen in Egypt from 2011 onwards.

German authorities have stated this was the phenomenon seen in Cologne city centre on New Year, when hundreds of women reported they were sexually assaulted.

The practice is only carried out in public and almost always at demonstrations or large public gatherings where the attackers find safety in numbers and disorder.

The Arab phenomenon first came to the attention of the Western world when South African reporter Lara Logan, working for CBS, was set upon by a large group of men while reporting on celebrations in Tahrir Square, Egypt, in 2011.

Logan recounted her ordeal in Egypt several months later on a 60 Minutes broadcast, describing how the baying crowd 'raped me with their hands'.

The 44-year-old revealed terrifying details of the 40 minute-long February attack in Cairo's Tahrir Square, including how she became separated from members of her crew after someone in the frenzied 200-strong crowd shouted 'Let's take her pants off.'

She said: 'Suddenly, before I even know what's happening, I feel hands grabbing my breasts, grabbing my crotch, grabbing me from behind. I mean, and it’s not one person and then it stops, it's like one person and another person and another person.

'And I know Ray is right there, and he's grabbing at me and screaming, "Lara hold onto me, hold onto me".'

Scholars believe that sexual assaults against women during demonstrations in Cairo were widespread following the civil disorder that erupted in Egypt in 2011

It was revealed that as she was pulled into the frenzy the camera recorded her shouting 'Stop.' It was revealed that someone in the crowd falsely shouted out that she was an Israeli Jew.

Angie Abdelmonem, a doctoral candidate at Arizona State University, recently published a study into the instances of 'taharrush' seen during the Egyptian Revolution.

She said the 'violent nature of sexual harassment and assault in Tahrir Square captured global attention', but many locally initially believed the state was hiring thugs to harass women and stem public protest.

'This [perception] shifted on February 11, the day Mubarak stepped down, with the mob assault and rape of CBS correspondent, Lara Logan,' she wrote.

A teenager named only as Michelle (pictured), 18, described how the New Year's Eve celebrations in Cologne a fortnight ago turned into targeted and coordinated attacks on women

The chaos outside the Cologne cathedral saw fireworks launched into the crowd and hordes of drunk Arab or North African men assaulting women, German police said

Leaked police reports later emerged showing officers were unable to stop the disorder and they were swamped by upset women at the scene claiming they had been sexually assaulted

A reveller lets off a firework in Cologne city centre during the chaotic celebrations on New Year's Eve

'Between 2011 and 2013, sexual harassment became common at protests in Tahrir Square, exemplified by a number of highly publicized violent attacks that demonstrate how women’s bodies became objectified and dehumanized during the uprising.'

She goes on to conclude the lack of 'conceptual boundaries' of the term further blurred the lines of when acceptable flirtation became harassment.

German police believe it was 'taharrush' committed in Cologne and other cities at New Year by Arab and North African men that led to hundreds of police complaints in the following weeks.

German federal police told Die Welt that crimes are committed by groups of young men during large gatherings of people, such as demonstrations, and range from sexual harassment to rape.

It was the first instance of the phenomenon having reached Europe, and as the scale of the attacks in the city slowly emerged, other centres, such as Zurich and Salzburg, reported similar crimes.

A report from the Interior Ministry in North Rhine-Wesphalia (NRW) state, where Cologne lies, said 516 criminal complaints had been registered, 237 of which were of a sexual nature.

A separate report from the Cologne police gave graphic descriptions of the crimes, listing case after case of women surrounded by gangs of men who put their hands in the victims' pants and skirts, grabbed them between the legs, on the buttocks and the breasts, often while stealing their wallets and cell phones.

A total of 19 suspects have been identified, all foreigners.

Islamic immigration? The people of Europe have had enough. Are you listen Angela and Call Me Dave?

Hundreds of protesters rampage through German town, destroying ethnic restaurants and takeaways - hours after Merkel admits European migrant crisis is 'out of control'

Anti-refugee rioters have gone on the rampage in the German city of Leipzig after a demonstration where protesters called for asylum seekers to be deported and their nation's borders closed (pictured left). Hours after Chancellor Angela Merkel admitted that Europe had lost control of the crisis the right-wingers broke away from a largely peaceful march in the eastern city to trash the suburb of Connewitz (centre). Doner kebab fast food stalls were destroyed (top right), cars set ablaze and shop windows smashed by around 250 hooligans of LEGIDA - the local branch of PEGIDA, the anti-migrant, anti-EU organization which marched against the refugees earlier in the evening. Police said they identified 211 of the crowd as known right-wing agitators, many of them with criminal records for violence. Security remains tight inside the city (bottom right) as pressure mounts on Angela Merkel to consider changing Germany's immigration policy.

Nowhere near acceptable as the famous Italian Pinch, heh?

Yes. You're quite right. Gang-raping a person is nowhere near as acceptable as merely pinching someone's bottom. I think that's someone where there is general widespread agreement.

I'm going to say this to the Lefties: look at the mess and depravity in Europe right now that YOUR policies have caused. YOU lot have caused this.

Muslim think this is acceptable.. and our politicians are importing this mindset into Western Societies are a record number.

And Western European politicians excuse Muslims when they commit gang-rape on the basis that it's "their culture."

Muslims path to peace is to kill anyone who doesn't believe as they do, which they think brings peace. That's how the Muslim mind works. Let that sink in for a moment.

...and then there is the appeasers, Liberals or The PC crowd, that excuse that based on Religious Beliefs, but they attack Christians.

Makes sense, eh?

Naw. Too easy to see a bunch of retards committing heinous acts who happen to be Muslim or Christian or what the fook ever religion it is and just lump all of them together in the same basket. There may be a much greater degree of stupidity and barbarism in this religion then any other just as there are Warren Jeffs in the Mormon sect of Christianity but it's a matter of degree not a total saturation of that culture. All Muslims, as are all Christians are definitely not of one mind.

And denounce as "bigots" and "racists" those patriotic heroes who campaign against our countries being turned into Islamist caliphates - like Tommy Robinson, EDL and Pegida.

Yeah right, because only Muslims gang rape, right?

http://www.bbc.com/news/world-asia-india-31282673Indian police arrest eight for 'brutal' Haryana rape and murder
  • 9 February 2015
  • From the section India

Image caption There have been widespread protests against the latest incident of rape India rape scandal

Police in India say they have arrested eight men over the gang rape and murder of a mentally ill Nepalese woman.

The 28-year-old woman went missing on 1 February in the town of Rohtak in Haryana state, where she was seeking hospital treatment. Her mutilated body was found in a field on Wednesday.
A post mortem examination has confirmed multiple sexual assaults.
Meanwhile, reports say a Japanese student has been raped by a man in the northern state of Rajasthan.
Police said the man met the 20-year-old student in Jaipur and offered to act as her tour guide. He later took the woman on his motorcycle to a village outside the city and raped her, it is alleged.
The incident comes a month after five men were arrested in eastern India charged with kidnapping and repeatedly raping a Japanese student.
'Horrific case'

On Monday, Haryana director general of police YP Singhal told the BBC that eight of the nine men accused of the the rape and murder of the mentally ill woman have been arrested.
Police said they had confessed to raping and murdering the woman, although the accused were yet to comment,
The doctor who carried out the post mortem examination told the NDTV channel that he had "never seen such a horrific case" in his 29-year-long career.
"The injuries suggest she was hit on the head with a heavy object, became partly unconscious and was then gang-raped. Animals and rodents had eaten bits of the body," Dr SK Dhattarwal said.
The post mortem revealed that stones, blades and sticks were forced inside her during the attack, reports said.
On Sunday, hundreds of people blocked a highway in Haryana and held candlelight vigils in protest against the crime.
Reports said that the woman, who was from Nepal, had travelled to Rohtak a few months ago to live with her sister and receive treatment for depression at a local hospital.
Image caption The woman's body was found in a field in Haryana Image caption Candlelight vigils have been held to protest against the attack "In Nepal too she kept falling in and out of depression. Last year, we finally decided to get her regular treatment," the woman's brother told The Indian Express.
"A friend suggested a doctor in Nainital [in Uttarakhand state] and since then she was on medication. I had purchased all her medicines when she told me she wanted to live with our sister for a while."
She went missing from her sister's home and her body was found in a field by a highway, some 18km (11 miles) away, police said.
The victim's sister, who led the protests in Rohtak, has accused the police of being slow in registering a complaint, a charge the police have denied.
"Police have been slow to arrest the perpetrators, they should be arrested immediately and hanged," she said.
"I want justice for my sister, they have been brutal to her, it's just spine chilling," she added.
Scrutiny of sexual violence in India has grown since the December 2012 Delhi gang rape and murder.
The government tightened laws on sexual violence in 2013 after widespread protests following the attack.
Correspondents, however, say tougher laws have failed to bring down the number of rape cases and a series of high-profile crimes have taken place since then.

Gang Rapes Are A Horrifying Aspect Of Fraternity Culture - Business Insider
An explosive article in Rolling Stone last week detailing multiple allegations of gang rape at a prominent University of Virginia fraternity, Phi Kappa Psi, sheds light on a horrifying aspect of fraternity culture.
As Washington Post reporter Terrance McCoy writes in an article Monday on rape culture at fraternities, the actions reported at Phi Psi may not be completely out of the norm for fraternity houses.
McCoy writes that the UVA students' stories in the Rolling Stone article bear "a striking similarity to other stories of fraternity gang rape, a survey of academic literature shows ... The studies convey a culture of impunity, where group-think and hyper-masculinity treat sexual assault as something ordinary, even desired."
As McCoy notes, much of this behavior was studied the 1990 book "Fraternity Gang Rape: Sex, Brotherhood, and Privilege on Campus," by University of Pennsylvania anthropology professor Peggy Reeves Sanday. Notably, Sanday argues that some male groups participate in gang rape to bond.
In a party setting, groups of males — like a college fraternity brotherhood — are often looking to "score" with as many women as possible as a means to improve their standing within the group.
"The success of the night, who 'scored' and who didn't, is discussed either at the end of the evening or the next day — or is written up ... The more new girls a brother can boast about, the higher his status," Sanday writes.
Sanday notes that date-rape drugs are sometimes used to help someone "score" with more women.
"Fraternity Gang Rape" analyzes a particular gang rape case at UPenn in the 1980s in which an undergrad was reportedly raped by a group of five to eight frat brothers for an hour. These problems, though, remain issues at campuses across the country — a Johns Hopkins University fraternity was investigated for an alleged gang rape just last year.
Here's how Sanday describes the perverse appeal of a gang rape:
If, as sometimes happens, the behavior mushrooms into group sex, there is always the question of whether the girl consented. The boys may not even consider the possibility that she may have been too drunk to consent. They assume that by drinking she signaled her desire for sex. The woman involved is a tool, an object, the centerfold around which boys both test and demonstrate their power and heterosexual desire by performing for one another. They prove their manhood on a wounded girl who is unable to protest. Her body stands in for the object of desire in porno-staged acts of sexual intercourse that boys often watch together. She is the duck or the quail raised and put in place for the hunter.
Who she is doesn't matter and she is quickly forgotten after it's all over — sloughed off like a used condom. They event operates to glue the male group as a unified entity; it establishes fraternal bonding and helps boys to make the transition to their vision of a powerful manhood — in unity against women, one against the world. The patriarchal bonding functions a little like bonding in organized-crime circles, generating a sense of family and establishing mutual aid connections that will last a lifetime.
Sanday's findings seem to line up with the accounts of an alleged gang rape in Rolling Stone. One UVA student told Rolling Stone that she was gang raped by a group of brothers during a Phi Psi date event:
She remembers every moment of the next three hours of agony, during which, she says, seven men took turns raping her, while two more — her date, Drew, and another man — gave instruction and encouragement. She remembers how the spectators swigged beers, and how they called each other nicknames like Armpit and Blanket. She remembers the men's heft and their sour reek of alcohol mixed with the pungency of marijuana. Most of all, Jackie remembers the pain and the pounding that went on and on.

I have friends that work for dw.com in Cologne. They have seen the confidential police reports and thus knew right away when the police and politicians were lying about Taharrush. It is real, and it happened in 3 different cities on New Years. It was not random. It was premeditated, and was carried out, not so much to satisfy men's lust, but to send a message that the German people are no longer in control of their own destiny; welcome to 2016.

Oh,,kinda like the Christian "Dominion theology". I see.

Oh, trying to divert attention from the Muslim ideology by attacking Christians? Nice try but it doesn't work.
It is today, not 100 years ago we are talking about. Christians today are not forming bands of thugs to attack non-Christians . Muslims are.
You won't see or hear any of this on the Canadian news; it has to get really desperate, like in Europe before people start speaking up. Wait a year or so and you'll see the same things happening here.

Yet it was the German people who came up with the idea of auschwitz. I don't think they want to push to hard, they may take a page out of Donald Trumps book and send them packing, which personally I think every western country should prepare for...

if this is all true,
not only does it send the message one has no control over their own destiny,it will force indivdiuals to stay home, not venturing out on new years or other gatherings of celebration.
