wherever i sit down my ars
can't speak regarding Canada but for here?,,,too many fawkin chiefs,,and not enough injuns ,,around this house. We need to just send a minority of people on to advanced education and put the rest of the bastids to work as in,,sho me sweep de flo. Entirely too many people wanting to lead leaving a huge void in the ditchdigger roles. Get to work fawkers and stop tryin to be the big shot. Be happy with beans and taters and leave the prime rib for the elite. It ain't good for ye anywho. ").

I'd amend that to dish washer. :)

That has to be the MOST brain dead decision ever introduced to the education system! How would a person like to be operated on by a neuro surgeon who is too dumb to pass the course? :)

Another mindless statement by the king of idiots. How stupid can one person be? You have no idea, what so ever, about our educations system. The above statement says it all. Obviously todays kids are for more intelligent than previous generations if you are any indication of that intelligence level.

My father was a superb mathematician and a superb air navigator who ended up flying complex search patterns over open ocean, 18 hours at a time, using sun and star shots, only.

He was not unusual for his generation. You would be damned hard pressed to find one single high school graduate in the whole country that could do that, today.

That would be because it is not necessary. If your old man had had access to global positioning systems he wouldn't have used the sun and stars for navigating as it would not have been as precise.

Yep, back in the day people were much more talented than the kids today! Their brains are fried with too much dope.

Is that your excuse?

I don't buy that for a second. You should check out an archives and read some of the personal correspondence written by ordinary people 120 years ago. Not only is their handwriting superb, their prose is excellent, as well. Most 21st century dingbats are hard pressed to grunt out an expression like "owned" or "lol". Our culture has become so severely dumbed down that we don't have the faculties to be aware of the loss, anymore.

Just because you were incapable of raising intelligent children, doesn't mean everyone fits that mold.

Don't sweat it C.C.- intelligent people know the facts, while there will always be idiots to blurt out mindless drivel!:)

Like you and CC

Geez Gerry, do you have to work at being brain dead, or do you come by it naturally? I was hoping by 2016 you'd be starting to show signs of smartening up! If I am the King of idiots, then that would make you the f**King Emperor!

If you want an idea of what is wrong with the educational system talk to a teacher and you will get an ear-full. There are so many changes that are needed that it would take me several thousand words to properly explain them all. But let's just list one - for the most part too many educational systems ignore the needs of a very large part of the student population. In many educational systems students are crammed into a one-size-fits-all type of curriculum with supposed alternative streams essentially leading nowhere. What Canada really needs to look at is how other nations educate their populations and borrow the best from each. What also needs to be looked at is how changing technology can aid in learning and what can be done to streamline or reform traditional methods of teaching and learning.

Senior high, at least, a student can fail. College, fail. University, fail. Your statement concerning the "neuro surgeon" shows your extreme ignorance.

And one sure fix for that is to quit the practice of jamming every kid through a grade level in one year! Back in the day the odd kid was able to skip a grade. Don't see that any more.

I was just extrapolating to the extreme to prove a point. :)

It is clear that you are very impressed with your own brilliance but that no measure of your intelligence one way or other, I'm afraid.

I see your confusion isn't abating. While I can certainly see why you would think I'm brilliant, I can assure you I'm just an average guy.

Your main problem, Gerry, is you think that opinions that don't exactly coincide with yours aren't valid! Pretty narrow minded philosophy! :) :)

I think opinions that aren't backed up by anything remotely resembling a coherent argument aren't particular valid as they relate to the changes required in our education system. I understand that you aren't sharp enough to understand what Ken was talking about in both the videos posted but that's OK. It won't be long and you'll be gone. Us younger folk can work on the problems

I don't believe that any generation is more intelligent than another. There has always been smart kids and stupid ones.
The thing is, there was no time wasted on trying to turn stupid kids into smart ones. Their potential was evaluated and they were educated (or not) accordingly.
The practice now of putting kids with learning disabilities in with normal kids is harmful to both. For the ones with disabilities it causes them to feel out of place and the extra attention they need takes away from the time spent on the normal ones.
There has always been kids with different talents too. Some are cut out for professions, others are more skilled at trades, each one to his natural abilities. Making education a business meant getting everyone into college whether they were suited to it or not.
Where would we be without the waiters, janitors, cooks, store clerks, etc., all those who don't need college education to do their jobs well? We would be in a pretty pickle without them.
Also, what was wrong with 4 year apprenticeships to learn a trade from a master tradesman? FGS even a life truck operator has to take a course now and get certified!

At the risk of sounding like a broken record, I'm not surprised you would think so. I'm also not surprised you can't provide anything to refute it but your silly, predictable opinion.

What can I say? You are oh-so-smart. You are smarter than the rest of us and people just like you make the species smarter and smarter.

Have a nice day.
