The Need For Change in Our Education System

I don't understand YOUR concept of the education system! Because it makes no sense.
There's more to education than learning how to click your mouse to find out what you want to know/want to do which may or may not be accurate.
The concept of education that I understand is teaching children to THINK. THINK for themselves. That is a concept that has fallen by the wayside and does the children a disservice and puts them at a disadvantage.
I couldn't disagree more. My two youngest just graduated this past June. They, as well as their classmates, definitely do a better job of thinking than your generation which has been shown to be seriously lacking. This thread is ample evidence.
That's a pretty silly statement. You don't even know what my generation is.
Exactly what are your two youngest thinking about that is so great? I hope they're better at thinking than our PM who seems to think the only thing worth thinking about is how to pose for a camera.
Yes, we get you don't like Trudeau. My kids don't either but they can come up with a coherent argument for their reasons not to like him.
Trudeau's dysfunctional ways are one of those things that if you don't understand it now you never will.
A lot of math is really getting to be a lost art...........................logarithms comes to mind. (The gazintas will always be highly important)!
I too used one for many years! One of the bi products of logarithms!
My father was a superb mathematician and a superb air navigator who ended up flying complex search patterns over open ocean, 18 hours at a time, using sun and star shots, only.
He was not unusual for his generation. You would be damned hard pressed to find one single high school graduate in the whole country that could do that, today.
Yep, back in the day people were much more talented than the kids today! Their brains are fried with too much dope.
I don't buy that for a second. You should check out an archives and read some of the personal correspondence written by ordinary people 120 years ago. Not only is their handwriting superb, their prose is excellent, as well. Most 21st century dingbats are hard pressed to grunt out an expression like "owned" or "lol". Our culture has become so severely dumbed down that we don't have the faculties to be aware of the loss, anymore.

Your confusion is understandable. It's interesting to see some people see language skills as the measuring stick for intelligence, while others see math skills. Both are equally misinformed.

It is clear that you are very impressed with your own brilliance but that no measure of your intelligence one way or other, I'm afraid.
We need to brush up on fundamentals and we need to teach people
the basics of money and counting etc yes. That is not the purpose
of school however. The real purpose is to learn how to learn everything
from art to politics fundamentals to pop culture. I got more jobs knowing
how to communicate and know abstract things around me than any
other way. If you have a well rounded background you can converse with
those who hold the key as it were. You can also hold your own in a
conversation with others and learn to use acronyms and a whole lot
more. Actually knowing the three r's doesn't help with that in and of itself
