Now that we are about a month away from the federal vote, it looks like things are on the cusp of opening up.
Or remaining the same.
So it's time to place your friendly bets here as we continue to trudge along to Mount Doom.
Will the Conservatives regain control?
Does Trudeau have what it takes?
Is Mulcair the sleeper surprise?
YOU BE THE JUDGE
And with that said, I am going to chime in with my own prediction here.
It goes without saying that I've doled out a lot of criticism to the Conservatives over the years. Their failing strategy on the economy, the social regressive pandering to angry old white men, and their resistance to transparency. Oh and that whole climate change thing of course.
That said, I feel like we are seeing the beginning of a noteworthy breakout for them. I was expecting something last week after the debate on the economy, but it looks like that got very little traction. But now I think we are seeing an unexpected rise for them in places like Quebec and Vancouver. It's a bit of riling up anti-muslim prejudice in Quebec and some targeted promises in other provinces. Ontario is a lock already.
I think many voters are going to fall back on the status quo because they are afraid of uncertainty and will accept the currently mediocre position we're in.
I am predicting
A Conservative majority government.
Or remaining the same.
