Not only did you fail to show any causal relationship between France's corporate tax rate and economic performance, you should be aware that France has had GDP growth this year, whereas we have been experiencing GDP decline and a contracting economy.

Au contraire mon frere... You failed to show any causal relationship that disproves my position.

PS - RE GDP growth in France... There is an old saying; 'You can polish a turd, but it's still a piece of sh*t'... That is the present state of the French economy

From google:

France GDP Annual Growth Rate | 1950-2015 | Data | Chart | Calendar

France has slight growth of 0.82 while Canada has growth of 2.06. Both numbers quoted from March of this year. France has averaged about 3% so such a small growth is down for them.

The Gross Domestic Product (GDP) in France expanded 0.82 percent in the first quarter of 2015 over the same quarter of the previous year. GDP Annual Growth Rate in France averaged 3.24 percent from 1950 until 2015, reaching an all time high of 12.50 percent in the second quarter of 1969 and a record low of -3.95 percent in the first quarter of 2009.

Well we do have a fairly low corporate tax rate, and increasing that wouldn't be a burden to most people, so......

Or how about a carbon tax instead. Corporate taxes take away from workers' wages. Co-determination laws might help to promote trickle down.

Also, if the government wants to increase expenditure, make sure it goes to the most destitute, such as increasing funding for literacy, trades, and professional education for the unemployed. Given that Stats Can 2011 found about 50% (and 60% on reserves) of Canadians between the ages of 16 and 65 are functionally literate in neither official language, and that we want to promote reconciliation with Canada's indigenous peoples, that would be a good target for funding increases. Addiction rehab might be a good target too. I'm not big on government increasing expenditure, but if it absolutely insiats, then raise taxes to do it and direct it to the most destitute. Do it right or don't do it at all.

With your proposals, I would tend to lead with don't do it at all. Why tax people more to give straight to the losers who don't want to work?

I am hoping that this extra tax relief for families will cause an increase in our birth rate in this country.

We need to stop spending so much money on immigration and start to grow more of our own.

Enough immigration already!!

Given Canada's official functional literacy rate, we might want to ensure those potential parents are literate. We must consider our emigration rate too.

I never said welfare but education.

As for infrastructure, why not pedestrian and bicycle paths rather than increase welfare checks? Then the poor won't need to live beyond their means.

I certainly hear you, I see enough of them every day when I take my walk, healthy looking young people with their caps out. At the same time we have to be careful not to "tar them all with the same brush". Every effort should be made to give the ones work who are capable of it and supply the rest with enough to live with some dignity. Is being addicted to drugs a valid excuse not to work? I don't think so! There's always garbage to pick up, weeds to pull, stuff that needs painting, shut ins that could use help and companionship. Time to give every welfare recipient a medical evaluation and sort out who's who. Ooooooooooh I almost forgot, it would violate Pierre's rights and freedoms charter, but nobody gives a sh*t about those inconvenienced to provide the rights and freedoms!
