Horton Hears a Who - we are the Who, like quarks on a proton (the Earth) circling a nucleus (the Sun). If there is a Creative Force, then it is the Universe itself and our solar system in just one atom of the Universe. On that scale, it is ridiculous to think that our miniscule finite minds to comprehend the magnitude and level of consciousness of such an infinitely huge entity. What most people think they know of god or would imagine god to be would be something like Horton and that would be stretching our imaginations to the max.

you guys are too insular..,

Is it insular or just the ability to recognize sh*t when you see it?

First of all the framework of how you choose to worship/communicate with God is your own choosing. The question simply put was do I or do I not believe in God -- creator of the universe, supreme power/overseer/designer? I do. As for the religion part of it, I am not one to tell you or anybody else how or which God they worship or do not. I expect the same courtesy in return (from everybody -- not specifically or even you).

And I do not find my religion and my spirituality and science to be contradictory or mutually exclusive.

As far as religion goes, speaking for myself, I would limit it to the Golden Rule and some of the Ten Commandments. There is definitely a supreme power, perhaps enate in most of us.............maybe what keeps us honest. The way the world works was definitely planned.

Yes, because God believes in me. The evidence of this is Jesus Christ.

The evidence of this is Jesus Christ.

"Say: 'Praise be to God who has never begotten a son; who has no partner in His Kingdom..." (Surah 17:111)

"'How shall I bear a child,' she [Mary] answered, 'when I am a virgin...?' 'Such is the will of the Lord,' he replied. 'That is no difficult thing for Him...God forbid that He [God[ Himself should beget a son!...Those who say: 'The Lord of Mercy has begotten a son,' preach a monstrous falsehood..." (Surah 19:12-, 29-??)

"The only true faith in God's sight is Islam." (Surah 3:19)

Forcefully stating that you believe doesn't at all explain WHY you believe. So no, you did not fully answer the question.

I thought I covered it in my first post. I believe because the world and universe is far to complex to be random. I refuse to accept that all our journeys here are just random and then gone. I don't know what else to say other than to me the world works better if there is a higher power. Too many unanswered questions without one.

I can't explain it any clearer in English. But quite frankly I shouldn't have to. I am not trying to make you believe. What you believe or don't believe is not my concern.

Well put. I'm on the other side of the argument, but that was clear, cogent, and well argued, with just a soupҫon of snark to keep in lively.

I suppose you did which is fair enough (but I believe the rational is weak and akin to prehistoric concepts of subscribing anything not understood to magic, sorcery, the gods etc) but I vehemently disagree with your assertion that what you believe is not my concern. In fact, the opposite is true and nothing in history looking at every society right through to the modern age would suggest otherwise.

I have to agree with him, here. What he believes is none of your concern. What he does may or may not be.

In fact the world wouldn't work AT ALL without a higher power, don't understand how so many people are too thick to understand that!

can you explain your vision of a 'higher power'. if you think there is a 'god', then where did he/she
come from, did he/she just show up one day, and say ok, I'm here now, I'm in charge, did he/she fire
the previous CEO ?

there is no such thing as random, because there is 'no' god anywhere, leads us to look for a different
beginning than gods, not random, different, just settling to believing in a god, is lazy, our earth and
the universe is so much more complex than some sandle wearing, robe wearing 'man', and yes, these
conclusions we are told to believe were all made up by 'men', give me a break, I jumped off of that
bandwagon long ago, before I was out of my teens.

saying higher power, is juust another form of saying god.

everything about nature is a higher power than us.

where is dexter when his common sense, intelligence and input is needed.

You're wrong and I'll tell you why.

If the population of Canada were to triple with all growth coming from the Muslim world the beliefs of those people would trump the beliefs and therefore change the laws and the culture of the original inhabitants. Sharia Law, blasphemy laws, laws regarding halal and Ramadan would affect everything from strip clubs down to what we could say or see or do on the internet.

Religion is a strong motivator of people's opinions and lifestyle. Many are more than willing to die for their beliefs. It directly affects me as to how many people are religious and particularly, what type of religion they are practicing.
