Black bear cornered in Newmarket backyard

Police confirm that a black bear has been spotted near Yonge St. and Davis Dr.

A black bear has been found in the backyard of a Newmarket home this morning.

York Regional Police confirm that a black bear has been located on London Rd., in the area of Yonge St. and Davis Dr. They received the call at 6 a.m.

Police are currently on scene and confirm that the bear is contained to one backyard. They are waiting for officers from the Ministry of Natural Resources to arrive. They advise citizens to stay clear of the area.

Upper Canada Mall has been there at least 40 years.
