the problem:

The Problem is crappy schools, crappy education and not enough teachers that give a dam. Why should they, they're Union, they can't get fired.

The Problem is drugs, and the gangs that bring it into the communities.

The Problem is single parents and fathers that don't man up and take responsibility for their children.

Solution:

Better schools, better education, leads to better jobs..

Better Policing, and more community police stations, smack in the center of the drug infested areas.

I think you might be onto something, Boomer!

What you have posted above are only symptoms, not causes.

Nothing there in any way stimulates the troubles that we see in Baltimore today.

Take a look at the high salaries paid to the cops there:

Police Patrol Officer Salaries in Baltimore, MD | Salary.com

All that public money spent on those cops and they still cannot find competent people who can do the job the right way?

Back in the 1960s the Black Panthers offered to kick the living shtt out of drug dealers in the ghettoes. But they were stopped by the government, including police. Therefore, spending more money on cops who will only pocket all the largesse they get at public expense will be wasted.

Instead, the real solution is as I have posted above - an armed citizenry that is motivated to do good for the public.

Okay, got it you don't like cops..

Vigilante citizens, great idea.. back in 1865 in Texas and Arizona, string up dem cattle rustlers. ;)

If you don't break the cycle of poverty in these ghettos, created by drugs and lack of education, then the cycle will continue..

Send single mothers back to school, and provide free child care.. conditional on the parent is drug free, attending school and grades are at a certain level.

Provide a community incentive for businesses to come into the area, like a tax break and maybe free land if they demolish the building on the property..

(abandon housing Baltimore)

Also provide an incentive to hire these newly trained students, and the city or state can pay a percentage of the wages, so long they are provided a minimum hourly salary.

I could go on... but even the simplest thing, as proper street lighting is a deterrent to crime. The bad guys don't want to be seen.

So here's my question then, who would you arm here? The citizenry that are angry and on the edge? Or the citizenry that used those on the edge as cover in order to rob local businesses?

All you're going to get in that situation is the flip side of what we have now, which will not be any better.

I'd arm the fairies and kobolds, seeing as how they're as real as the nefarious Thieves' Guild.

Goph ain't looking for better, he's looking for dead cops.

So are we talking about arming imaginary people with real guns or are the guns imaginary too?
I'd arm 'em with bows and arrows, because we know they're more powerful than guns. Just watch the movies/TV.

They're ready for more unrest in Wicomico County.

Well shoot, why don't we just drop these guys in to clean the place up....

....or level it. You know, whatever comes first.

Nicely diverse group. They have a chick. . . uh, woman. . . uh, gyno-American. They even have a guy who's not white part of the time!

Now THAT's diversity!

By the way, Wicomico is a rural county with a population of 100,000. It's county seat and biggest "city" is Salisbury, population 30,000. They had three homicides last year.

Green is the new black.

There's even a guy with a bow and arrow if it's really that important to ya.

~ you don't like cops ~

A reminder that I have mentioned that my only nephew, an uncle, a cousin, and several pals = cops.

~ vigilante justice ~

Vigilantes are unorganized. Black Panthers and the like are organized. A far better solution.

~ cycle of poverty in these ghettos, created by drugs and lack of education ~

There are more drugs in the suburbs. In the ghettoes there are just as many college graduates. Biggest differences being lack of good jobs. And as shown in the exposés I have posted here, much of those drugs in the ghettoes come from corrupt cops (see my earlier post on Ruderman/Laker book and the one about Chicago prosecutorial misconduct).

Community colleges are mostly for free or low cost. Child care are often provided for free by churches and community services.

~ tax break for construction ~

I discussed that as well with the Marcus Garvey housing that took place in the East New York - Brownsville section of Brooklyn where I grew up. All those tax incentives for the banks that financed did create new housing and construction jobs for white owned companies. But they nothing to keep drugs out of the area, create jobs for the people who reside in that ghetto, and its murder rate remains the highest in NYC.

~ minimum hourly salary ~

They have that already.

Once again the problem is that you like so many others are only concerned with symptoms, not causes of urban problems. The only time you have seen a ghetto is on TV. By contrast, I have lived in the ghetto (whether the East New York section of Brooklyn, or the West Side of St Paul) all my life. Therefore, your knowledge of this subject is second hand at best. Mine is first hand. Because of this the solutions you offer are only band aids. Mine are concrete.

Read the Second Amendment and the legislative history behind its creation. Then read my earlier post from renowned conservative Charley Reese.

Since the riots over 50 blacks have been shot in Baltimore, all by other blacks; stupid cops.
