I’m a die-hard liberal. It ruined my parenting.

The Gumball subsidies are killing the Tulip economy.

It all started with deregulating gumball manufacturing and selling it to the private sector

I remember that terrible day as if it was yesterday

As one commentator says,

Oh for heavens sake, one's parenting skills have nothing to do with your political party. Can we talk about anything these days without it being linked to politics! Uggggggggg.

So true!

In reading the article, it seems that the mom had a preconceived design to apply to her children... A liberal philosophy not necessarily to be confused with a political entity, but the parallels are remarkably close

Clearly this is an issue with too much gumball regulation. If gumballs would be left to their own accord without interference by the mom, there would clearly be more gumballs.

not if your side needs propping up

then you seek articles like this so you know you are right, which you already knew but ya know, it's comforting, to know you are right, which you already knew but

gotta stay in the circle man, no venturing out

I think one of the best things you can do for your children is teach them that life is not fair and sometimes sh it happens. It will save them alot of grief and unnneccessary angst later.

I love those who call pensions and so on entitlements and people are something less
than good Canadians for supporting them. At the same time they ant to reduce taxes
for those on the richer end. The idea is take away those entitlements and lower taxes
so I don't have to contribute to the good of society that is what is really being said in
whispers.
Now I do believe in pensions I believe in the concept of EI and Child Tax Credits for
mothers. I believe those with a disability should receive a decent entitlement if you want
to call it that.
In addition the tax system should ensure there is fair share paid and by all and that include
social assistance. Even if they paid ten bucks or five bucks from their check at least it
would be something. On the other end the loopholes should be closed. An old age pension
which I support may be in your eyes and entitlement well if it is there is another view.
All those flow through shares for exploration and mining, all those other exemptions are
entitlements for the rich.
Here it is the seniors and disadvantaged are not receiving entitlements, they were sold on
an idea by two political parties the Liberals and the Conservatives. You could hardly call
those two groups socialists they are both the so called free enterprise parties. Pensions
and EI funds and even CPP were not entitlement programs they were a way for government
to access funds to use for governance and now that its time to pay up they are trying to
create the illusion they are entitlements. Your damn right I get pension and CPP and I earned
the money on that investment because the government took the money from me claiming
it was for a future service now I am accessing the service thank you. Now those big boys
with their tax entitlements they don't really provide a service for all they get they put it it a hedge
fund and and create the jobs overseas Nice to get to pay less and blame the little guys
who paid already for getting to many entitlements

Crisis: Lousy parent who blames someone else.

I don't even think she is lousy or blaming anyone else. She is at least exploring action/reaction, action/consequence. That is a decent parent struggling to do the right thing and in the long run it will pay off. She already explored one avenue which resulted in her concluding it wasn't getting the desired result.

Viewing one tiny set of incidents and concluding on her parenting ability is narrow in the extreme.

Why is a lefty feeding their kids gum balls? Should be rice cakes and organic grown carrots. The article is a complete fraud!

I'm a Die-Hard Conservative and It's Ruining My Parenting

I've always raisewd my kids to respect authority, take responsibility for thier choices and have been an ardent proponent of the point of view that "the family that prays together, stays together." Anyways, my son cursed his father one day and, exactly as instructed in Leviticus, we got a bunch of people together and stoned him to death.

Good for you!... You have come to accept the understanding that you really should have never procreated in the first place and passed on those faulted genes

wherever i sit down my ars
I liked Khalil Gibran's poem about children. I now feel that I don't really want my children's thoughts to be an extension of my thoughts. I want them to have their own thoughts about things. Even though sometimes I may disagree. I guess I could be called a liberal among other things. Everyone likes labels. Maybe some day the short sightedness of that societal habit will fade away along with the idea that we own our children.
