rangers-pittsburg, 2-0 rangers end of the first

detroit - tampa bay - tied at 1 in the first

st louis - minnesota - 5:30 pac. time -

anaheim - winnipeg - 7 or 7:30 pac. time

rangers started very strong, pitts took too many penalties, although i must argue that one of them
looked bogus, both plAyers were doing same thing to each other.

Pens really stiffened up the competition late in the game and gave the Rangers all they could handle - something tells me this round will not be easier and that the mountain will only get tougher to climb

montreal over ottawa - 3-2

washington over isl - 4-3

nash. over chicago - 6-2

vanc'r - calgary - 4-1

seems montreal have control in that series, now off to ottawa.

washington woke up and played like they can, they looked much better in game 2, go isles go

nashville really turned it on in the 3rd period, against chicago, series split one a piece.

too bad canucks didn't score on some of the excellent chances they had in the first game, or this
series would be 2-0 for them, but they didn't, so move on, tonight they did and got off to a
much better start, 2nd period was pretty even, and that quick goAl in the 3rd was very valuable.
obviously as the game neared the end, calgary made their move to set the tone for gAme 3, so
things will be exciting in calgary.
not sure what will come of the penalties, hope no canucks are suspended.

i'm so glad to see the twins playing so well, the team needs that, without
it they will struggle big time.

bo horvat had a great gAme, those fAceoffs wins are great.

typical playoff hockey, i've seen it over the years many times, it seems 'that'
stanley cup causes teams to lose their sanity At times, hope they all survive.

For crying out loud Edmonton gets McDavid.
As if he'll do that bunch of clowns any good-everyone thought Taylor Hall & Ryan Nugent Hopkins were going to make a difference and what happened?

Teams that have never drafted first overall:

The Canucks, Flames, Flyers, Devils, Stars, Sharks, Predators, Ducks, Hurricanes and Avalanche.

I saw that on the idiot box this afternoon. It baffles me how that works. I thought the worst team (Buffalo) gets to pick first. They must have traded that right, away at some point. ?????????????

i am happy out of my mind that edmonton will get mcDavid, i was so hoping for thAt to happen, and

i had just walked into the house when it was announced thAt edmonton had the first overall pick.

their team has been improving a lot since they hired the lAst coach, but he is only interim, so

myfirst thing to wonder is, who will coach next year, BAbcock's contract is up at the end of this

season, could it be him? he would have A great time over the years developing that team from where

they are now.

i wanted mcDavid to come to the west, and edmonton is the only team who could do that, and they will, well i guess arizona could have, but who knows where they
will be, as they will probably be moved.
we will get to see him play, right here in our division all of his career, wonderful.
just like we did when gretZky came to edmonton for much of his career, we saw him
play lots, i loved it.

edmonton need to upgrade their defense system, which is better than it was, and now that mcDavid

will be there, other highend players, (free agents) will give serious thought about playing there.

hurray, i love it.

I saw that on the idiot box this afternoon. It baffles me how that works. I thought the worst team (Buffalo) gets to pick first. They must have traded that right, away at some point. ?????????????

they had a lottery, and all teams who did not make the playoffs were in it, of course bottom team got the
best odds, and on up from there. edmonton was third, and won the lottery, as they drew names from highest
right down to the first.

For crying out loud Edmonton gets McDavid.

perfect

Who will Edmonton pick when they win the lottery again next year?

i wonder. lol

they are going to make more changes to the lottery system for next year, at least that is what i
heard.

i think they are going to make it possible for the high draft picks to go to teams other than those
in the bottom 5 or 10.

when one thinks about it, those young junior players strive to be the best they can over the years,
then the best pick goes right to the bottom of the nhl, it seems teams are being rewarded for failure.
iknow they innitially did this to try to bring the weaker teams back up into the middle of the pack.
doesn't seem to be working too well that way, other than tavares going to islanders, where he started
packing that team on his back, and the management helped him by bringing in better players.

edmonton certainly did 'not' start tanking as the season cAme closer to the end, in fact they played
their best over the last two or three months of play, and right to the last game.

but some teams near the bottom just trade away At thedeadline, to save money, And don't think about
the future of the team at all, so ithink they are going to try to get rid of that 'mind set', and
those teams won't know who they will be drafting till after lottery, which will not be set upfor
'them'.

dumb little penalty to lad, big mistake, anaheim is fired up to win this gAme, now tied at 1, oh oh, ducks scored with 19 sec. left in game.

anaheim win it 2-1, heartbreaker for the jets.

bob hartley was fined $50,000 for his part in the skirmish that happened inside of the last two
minutes of playoff game.

there is a rule that if players act up last five minutes or so of a game, that coach will be
fined, and they concluded that he was at fault for the beginning of the problem, hence the fine,
just as he was fined for last years mix up with torterella, because he put certain players on the
ice for the faceoff, same thing this time, but in 2014, the last laugh in that mess was on torterella, who mAde a total fool of himself,
which bob hartley knew he would.

they have lots of money, no loss there. he was making a last ditch statement to take into 3rd game
in calgary, as he knew the present game was a loss after empty net goal.

nothing new to the playoffs, coaches have been doing these antics since i began watching hockey, trying
to instill lots of emotion into the games, and also trying to throw other team off balance, sometimes
it works, sometimes not.

islanders defeated capitals today, as john tavares scored in overtime, score was

montreal and ottawa going into overtime tied at one- montreal won in OT
dale weis scored the tieing goal and the OT goal.

Yeah, it seems a lot of hockey players have reached their mental potential at about age 12. :)

vancouver and calgary about to start

well a nice even well played game for two periods, that goal for calgary early in the 3rd shows canucks
in a real lull, all standing around waiting to see what was going to happen, well in the net went the
puck, that is what happens when teams stop skating.
game went downhill for canucks from that moment, and calgary took over, their speed definitely showed
tonight, outskated canucks, and calgary didn't look back, and of course toward the end of the game
things went right down the toilet, just like in vancouver the other night.
back at it again on tuesday, As canucks need to get the split, like they did in vancouver, or things
won't look good At all for canucks.
and that hit by hamhuis on sam bennet will be looked at by the league, he did
give him a direct hit to the head, so hamhuis could serve a game for that one.
burrows could get a game suspension for being the instigator in the fight after
he hit gudreau,(inside the last 5 minutes of the game) he definitely initiated the fight, BUT same thing happened
in last game, to a calgary player, and the league decided 'not' to go thru with that pArticular
suspension, so lets see what they do with burrows, i'llbe watching for that
decision closely.
these two teams are very close, calgary has more speed, and less playoff experience,
but they do have some experience 'now', so that bit of a problem is fading away,
And they are becoming more confident with their playoff game now.
canucks defense suffered tonight, not quick enough, spisa had problems, he is
very inexperienced, and it is beginning to show, he has improved immensely over
the season, but seems to have caught up to him in the frenzy of playoffs.
cAnucks got hemmed in their own end a lot tonight, so willie has to help them
figure that out.
and, desjArdin could be fined as well, as his player instigated a fight inside
the last 5 minutes.

I hope they give Hamhuis a multi-game suspension. If not he should be a healthy scratch.
