Maybe he just works and produces something of worth someone is willing to buy from him ;)
Possibly, but that's not what he says. He says from each as little as possible, to each as much as they can scam. Assuming Colpy is in the universe defined by "each," he does as little as possible and scams as much as he can. As do you, if Colpy is correct.

Might have to actually get out of their parent's basement and go where the jobs are. Maybe even go to night school instead of playing computer games.
Can't agree with that. If their parents're willing to support the useless slugs, more power to 'em. One less problem for me.

Until the parental units can no longer toil anyway. Then you have two or three generations for the long suffering taxpayer to carry all at once.
Wouldn't know. I mostly don't pay taxes. I don't believe in suffering. Well, not for me anyhow. I actively support other folks suffering.

You need to look at it from a different angle.

Everyone needs a basic production of value.

Giving a basic income to everyone without them having produced anything of value that is in demand will only devaluate what our money can buy.
Money equals production. If you give it to someone for zero production, you have basically made that money worthless.

Easily the stupidest thing I've read, and stop propping up false ideologies that don't exist and that you wouldn't benefit from if they did.

Talk tomorrow.

Just as a parting thought, the phrase 'fair tax' is often a highly subjective measure and by definition, does not represent equality in any way, shape or form.

I mention this as society's connection between fair and equal is generally very strong
You are quite right that opinions vary on what is a "fair"tax.
First -in your mind what is fair tax? When you show me yours-i'll show you mine.
Hopefully we are not that far apart-unless you are the Donald Trump of the Bloc-ha ha

What I am driving at is that 'fair' is a relative term subject to the person that is providing the opinion.

On a base level, 'fair' is most often parallel with 'equal' and if this is the case, how does one justify a progressive tax system with 'fair'?

I'm for equal taxation. Everybody pays the same amount.

That is one of the most basic 'systems' going; the cost of all the expected services (etc) divided by the number of total users.
If I can't have the mostly tax-free status I enjoy now, or a nice regressive tax system, I guess I can live with equal.

Let's see. . . $3.7 trillion divided by 310 million punkins equals. . . $11,935.48. Call it 12K. Plus state tax, county tax, city tax, head tax, thumb tax, and upholstery tax.

Yowzers.

Ok Bones what is that 'equal' amount?A flat tax of 10% or 50%?
Ten % of 100,000 is a hell of a lot less 10% of 50 million. Don't think some guy who worked hard to get a business going would like that formula.

No. Equal means "the same." Like, if I have $5 and you have $5, we have an equal amount of money. If I drink three Molsons and you drink three Molsons, we've drunk an equal amount of dog piss.

Hope that helped.

I'll bet none of the neighbor kids trample your lawn.It sounds like you'd turn em into mulch.
There is still plenty of good kids that want to work for a better life.We owe it to them to get a level playing field and unloaded dice.

Fluttershy is a pony, thank you. What exactly is her dancing "not helping?"
Like your "fluttershy"there is a lot of distraction and movement-but you aint goin anywhere

The Soviet Union is a great model for how communism works. First you ban all critical thought. Then you tell kids to rat on their parents if they say anything bad about the government. Then you say, there are no classes of people, but really there are. Upper class and peasantry, always has, always will. But don't talk about it.
