You need to provide evidence that giving someone the freedom to wear this particular garment during this ceremony would hinder women's freedom.
it is a costume of oppression and has zero to do with religious freedom, she is an educated woman who has chosen to wear it, she is a 1 percenter

that is enough for me to deny it's display and until Muslim women are equal it should be banned.

60% of all Muslims think it should be banned that is male and female

all of us women have a bomb under our clothes and it has controlled men for years, we are not about to display it, there's more power in your imagination than in our bombs.
Oh ya! I never understood this wanting to be equal to men BS. Why lower your standards? You have always had the control. In my 20s I wished I had been born a woman because men have to beg while women get to choose. Then I lived with a woman and then I really appreciated being a man. If men had to go through the emotional turmoil women do, there would be blood flowing in the streets 24/7.

It is only oppressive for people who think it is.

That may be commonly accepted in other places, but under our borders we give them the freedom to redefine the significance of the apparel.

How inclusive of you.
no

your stance is inclusive and you are proud of it, but you are ignorant of conditions within the Muslim community if you support this cr*p

you fancy yourself as standing for human rights by supporting this, your viewpoint is wrong and unhelpful

Now you are just hurling insults based on false assumptions and sorry I cannot help you with that problem.

It wasn't long ago that we treated turbans with the same level of suspect, but now we see people wearing them in every day life and we live harmoniously with them.

This is just another example of how letting go will actually have the additional benefits of peaceful assimilation.

put one on for a bit...seriously, physically place a burqa over your gd head and walk down the street with it, see how safe you feel trying to figure out just where the curb is, and the city noise is a hoot...you can't tell where the noise is coming from, whether it is coming at you or just near you...your hearing is impaired, your sight is impaired and they are stifling you can barely breath. Try a shoulder check in a car...

baloney, I am not hurling insults I am giving you truth and making you think of positions you had not considered before you jumped aboard this train...turbans are fine, hijabs are fine

no security risk and no symbol of oppression

this has zero to do with harmony...we can't live in harmony with oppression, we will not live in harmony with oppression

Turbans don't hide identity.

You can do better can't you?
