Not good enough. How is it broken down into demographics? I posted the demos yesterday. Did you grasp the content or flip it off Sunshine?

Regardless of how it is broken up demographically, it's up to the province to enable the appropriate legislation to address the issue.

In a province that has the most people, Ontario already does a much better job than SK.

Addressing the right demographics and the right social circumstances or a $41 million blanket of warm fuzziness?

Is that Beatrice's intent?

Who says there are no demographics involved?

We already know it's primarily men who commit the act against women.

Good f-cking God.

Criminogenic Factors[3]

Research has identified a connection between certain demographic and social factors and an elevated risk of offending and/or victimization. These factors include being young (Lochner 2004), living in a lone-parent family situation (Stevenson et al. 199:cool:, living common-law (Mihorean 2005), high levels of unemployment (Raphael and Winter-Ebmer 2001), and the consumption of alcohol (Vanderburg et al. 1995).

How will the $41M help people age quicker, find partners for single parents, marry people off, get them work or sober them up?

That's great.

It doesn't explain why some provinces with a 'better economy' have higher rates of sexual assault.

It's only a risk factor and not a guaranteed causal determinant.

Break down the demographics and it does you moron.

Age, marriage status, single parents, unemployment and alcohol has what to do with an economy?

I'm just going based on the stats available.

You are the one that needs to break it down per province if you want to prove your point.

It's a move to drive men out of Ontario. :) :) :)

When their is no men left in Ontario will have a sexual harassment free province at least. ;)

You are listing some things that may be associated with sexual assault, and while they may be underlying factors, you have not proposed a solution to those individual problems.

For now, the right course of action is to amend the legislation to allow better enforcement and exposure for reporting purposes.

The plan also includes legislation, to be introduced in the fall, to eliminate a two-year limitation period for civil sexual assault claims and to strengthen workplace safety legislation. The Occupational Health and Safety Act would be amended to include a definition of sexual harassment and would require employers to investigate and address such incidents.

An “enhanced prosecution model” tailored to sexual assault cases is to include more training for Crown attorneys and police. The government is also promising to boost funding for sexual assault support centres.

Reality said...
Disadvantaged groups of females in Canadian society are particularly vulnerable to being victimized by sexual assault. Women with disabilities and those who are institutionalized, Aboriginal women, particularly in the North and Territories, single, separated or divorced women, and women who are unemployed or have low-incomes are at heightened risk of being sexually assaulted
