Remember the U.S. Ebola crisis? The only epidemic was fear-mongering

Because 4 cases is not worth the negative effects of such a ban.

It was and it worked. No cases in Canada and the US was lucky with only 4... pure luck.

If countries know their citizens may face illegal and scientifically illogical travel restrictions, they are less likely to report the presence of disease outbreaks in the future.

Oh please... how can you hide a pandemic and West Africa was screaming for help during the outbreak. You're a fool if you think one of those countries can hide an ebola outbreak.

They were. The only sure way to stop it was the way Canada did it. And Canada was proven right.

You do know the ban was not on health officials or people coming from the affected regions right?

You know, the people with the highest risk to spread that super scary ebola?

Ebola outbreak: Canada turned 176 people away after imposing travel ban - Health - CBC News

or people coming from the affected regions right?
Federal government in October barred people coming from affected countries in West Africa

"Newly-released figures show an estimated 176 people were turned away from Canada after the imposition of a partial travel ban from Ebola-affected countries in West Africa."

Ready for your dance when you are.

Certainly caution was required by governmental and medical leaders. An infectious agent spread through contact and resulting in almost certain death is always best treated in the area of origin rather than allowing it to spread beyond those borders. Travel restrictions and quarantine used to prevent the spread to areas where training and equipment are less than perfect is certainly warranted. After all, government's role in these situations is to protect not expose. Sometimes fear of threat is wisdom not an overreaction.

Ever compassionate person hails the successes of the citizens of the infected regions in controlling this outbreak.

Canada announced its new policy, the WHO asked for an explanation. A teleconference between Canadian and WHO officials took place Thursday, at which point the Canadians insisted the new restrictions do not constitute a general ban.

The visa policy does not apply to Canadians. So travel between West Africa and Canada by health-care workers who are volunteering to help in the Ebola effort is not affected. Likewise it does not apply to holders of visas that have already been issued but not yet used.

Keep dancing.

Next time you should do a bit of research before you post and you wouldn't have to always be the fool.

Yeah ... it was FAIL on your part. Admit it.

Canada did a fantastic job during the ebola crisis. The US has a lot to learn from them.

and as Canadians of course, we're awfully sorry for the inconvenience but hey.

The sad part is that even though Canada did everything right people are ripping their hair out because of it. They had a ZERO infection rate and somehow they should be ashamed of that.

Whereas the current US Administration scoffed at the idea of any ban and assured the country that we were safe from ebola but were ready for it in the unlikely event that an infected person reaches our shores. We were neither safe from it nor prepared for it from the moment Thomas Duncan lied to customs and boarded a plane for America. And we should be proud.... pfft.

You don't see a lot on that map.

I don't see Canada at all!

Canada knew exactly what to do it appears while other countries left themselves at risk.

Does that anger you? Do you wish that some Canadians caught ebola even though a travel ban was in place? Of course you wouldn't want it to be you or your loved ones but someone else.
