How cost effective is recycling?

I don't bother with recycling. I just shove it all in the bin. Simples.

I burn everything that will burn, even if it's toxic fumes kill little anemules. If it won't burn I just toss it into the bushes where it's naturally processed in due time. It makes interesting gardens. No harmful CO2 emmissions are contributed to the environment transporting the stuff to the dump and the professional landfills are not burdened.

Does the value of the end product exceed the cost of the process?



Over the years I have read that recycling generally is not cost effective. However, those same reports agree that it does help the environment somewhat and ultimately does save our natural resources. So there is some benefit to society and the world.

I think you've hit the nail on the head! To keep extracting metal from the ground, while tons of it is rusting in land fills seems a bit ridiculous.
