I personally can't see oil going down much further, but if it does it will spell real trouble for our economy.

The Saudis are taking this on the chin as much as any other nation... Think about it, they could sell 1/2 as much oil at double the price to generate the same revenues.

This is more about geopolitics and (attempting) to lock-in market share on a global basis

Well the Saudi's don't look amused by it.
I have one prince quoted as saying he can't wait to see how many companies close down over our current price.

The Prince you speak of will do well to understand that there is just as much opportunity for Western nations to form their own trading block and exclude OPEC or invoke a form of oil tax (I'm thinking something along the lines of terrorist oil as opposed to dirty oil).

There's more than 1 way to skin a cat

Like I said before. Major b¥tt kissing trip for Steven planned for the near future.

Do you honestly believe that Harper controls the global price of oil?... Gold?.. Grain?... Lumber?

Not really. Only bad for those investors that are overexposed in one market. Construction and forestry are both picking up in BC. But it all makes good buzz for a media that is too lazy to pursue real stories. Even moreso for the CBC that would love to cast the government in a bad light.

Expect forestry to do well... Housing starts are up (especially in the USA), low CAD good to export South and teh cost of fuel is down.

Big win-win for lumber

Read back in the thread how we agreed to the OPEC $100 a bbl minimum. With the new facilities we built over the past ten years with the source money for the ActionPlan all but complete we can triple domestic production and forever take price control away from OPEC and the Bolsheviks.

We bought them just like we bought China.

We still going to be doing that at 60$ a barrel?
