Cutting costs is an admirable endeavour. I was a Gov't employee for 35 years and I saw a lot of money squandered that had nothing to so with achieving the Mission Statement. Expenses incurred attending useless f**King meeting was a lot of it.

And Harper was pretty clear that he would be cutting costs and balancing the budgets. However, you also have to pay the political price for cutting those costs. Somebody's ox is going to be gored.

Sounds about right. Balancing budgets should always be a prime consideration. If you overspend your budget one month it's probably not "the end of the world", but if you don't get back on track A.S.A.P. you soon get mired in an impossible situation. I don't know why politicians make promises but they all do and it's in fact a very dishonest ploy. As conditions and situations change the P.M. has to be flexible in the way he spends the money. As you quite rightly point out SOMEONE'S OX IS GOING TO BE GORED.

Well when they're running for election they go on about getting rid of waste in government. That's great, but it's scribbling in the margins at the end of the day. If you want to save real money you have to cut entitlements. But you'll never get a politican trying to get elected to admit that!

The PMO did not instruct him to run away from a veteran's wife, to be late for meetings, to insult veterans, or to be a complete and utter idiot.

I doubt the PMO ordered him not to spend his budget.

And, if nothing else, the new appointment to Veterans' Affairs signifies a definite change in attitude.

It is all good.
I wish you could look at one thing using facts then you might make a real point. The vets that are left from second world war are allotted. $9.00/day for food. That is not enough to live and that has not been changed by more than $ 1.50 over the last few years.
Harper should hang his head in shame but being a sociopath he has other people to kill.
