My thoughts exactly. Where was Miller before this year? Has he always been this hot and cold? Another thing was that they put Miller in after Lack's shut-out. I probably would have stayed with Lack but they could have been worried about damaging Miller's confidence.......Too late to worry about that now. Go with Lack against Montreal and hope for the best.

yeah, i'm thinking they should go with lack too, this is a big decision for them right now, they haven't
chosen lack over miller yet, so if they go with lack in next game, it is a switch, and will be sending
a message to miller, but also could be the beginning of the end for him.

he is a puzzle, brilliant then horrible, then good again a real question mark, but they can't afford to
allow any goalie to drag the team down, as the standings are very tight, wouldn't take much to fall out
of a playoff spot, that is the most important issue, not any individual, but i have my doubts they will
play lack against montreal, we'll see.

Another question Talloola......Is it the coach making these decisions or is someone throwing dice?

this would be a coaches decision completely, except when miller asked to plAy against washington, when
it was really lacks turn, and desjardin went with that, it worked, then lack won against pittsburg.

benning would step in if one of them was going to be moved somewhere, or if desjardin asked for his
input, and maybe they do talk about these things, but it is still coaches final decision what players
go on the ice or not.

i understand where he is coming from, miller has had brilliant outings at times, so he is giving him
more rope and will watch him 'to a point', and i'm wondering if that point is near.

now if miller plays against montreal and does great, then it goes back to a confusing time about miller,
they will still have to give him a chance, he is making the big bucks, he is the number one, and he
will be booted out of that position if he continues this sort of play again, like he did in toronto.

For sure, I'm wondering if Miller isn't getting close to the end of his shelf life!

i know goalies do have outings where they aren't really sharp, that is pretty normal, but with miller
it seems he is either fantastic or stinks, and i'm wondering why that happens, what is going on in
his head that makes him go right down the toilet in some games.

he is very soft spoken, very thoughtful and seems to be a real thinking man, guess he's always been
like that.

he was a top goalie in the world and played on quite a bad team, played fantastic in the olympics
and almost helped the u.s. to a gold medal in vancouver, he was probably the best goalie in the
tournament that year.

maybe he is thinking too much, sure hope he isn't taking something that is causing these huge
changes in his ability to be successful, too big of a change in short periods of time for my liking.

anyway, time will tell, and yes, whomever plays goal tomorrow night, creates a different atmosphere
around the goalkeeping on the team.

Goaltenders have always been a bit different. Just about every good goaltender I ever had on a team I coached was at least a little "flaky".
Miller is like that though. He shows this studious side that tries to learn the scientific aspect of goal tending. If I had to guess, I would say he thinks too much and it hurts his game.

would be interesting to know just what his thoughts were for a while, right after he was yanked in the
toronto game.

when he plays bad, he definitely owns it, admits it, and doesn't try to hide from questions, so that pArt
of his life is good, but still doesn't make him play better.

NYR > Pitt 4-3 in OT

For some reason the Broadway Blues continue to play wimpy hockey and cannot get the puck out of their zone so that Pitt scored the equalizer in Period III.* Thankfully blue liner Klein took the sniper shot and scored in OT for the win. The video stream stopped so that I couldn't really tell if it was his shot or a deflection in the crease. Whatever the case, I'll take it!

* I was cursing up a storm when that happened

Even though Miller has been hot and cold I trust him a helluva lot more than Luongo. I got so damn tired of watching goals go in from corner or off the goal judges head, or some other ridiculous way. Even when Luongo was so-called hot, in a close game he would let in pee wee league stuff.

Not sure about that...............Lu did everything but stand on his head to save a few games! Granted he had few stinkers too, but I think all tallied up he was on the plus side!

i thought it was a pretty good game, sure pitts put on a big push in the 3rd, but they were losing,
so they ramped up their energy, and it worked.

two good teams, a good gAme, and the right team won.

- NHL.com Vancouver Canucks vs. Montréal CanadiensCANUCKS (18-8-2) at CANADIENS (17-10-2)

TV: SNP, RDS, SNE

MONTREAL -- Montreal Canadiens defenseman Nathan Beaulieu will get another crack at establishing himself in the NHL against the Vancouver Canucks at Bell Centre on Tuesday.

Beaulieu was recalled from Hamilton of the American Hockey League on Monday with Mike Weaver out with a concussion and Bryan Allen sidelined by the flu.

Montreal coach Michel Therrien says it's up to Beaulieu to show that he's ready to stay in the League.

"It's always the player that makes the decision by the way he performs," Therrien said. "We hope he will play well, that he'll be responsible, as much with the puck as without the puck. He's a young player who at the beginning of the season had opportunities to play and he had some difficulty, so the fact that he went to Hamilton was good for his confidence.

"I spoke with him this morning. To play in the NHL, you have to be responsible. You can continue to develop a player as long as he is responsible. You can't be high-risk and causing turnovers, not be able to defend well, and hope to have a long career in the NHL. It's impossible, so that's the foundation of any player and it has to be solid, and after that you can continue to develop. If your foundation isn't solid, then it becomes difficult. That's one of the reasons we returned him to Hamilton and so we'll see how he handles himself."

Beaulieu had two assists in 14 games with Montreal when he was assigned to Hamilton on Nov. 24.

"This time I felt like I needed a few games down there," Beaulieu said. "I wasn't playing a whole lot and sometimes you lose little aspects of your game, so I went down and I've played lots of hockey and I got my confidence, a little bit of my swagger, back and I was more offensive, like I usually am, and I thought I played good hockey. So it was important to go down for a few games and get that mental aspect back before I came back."

Therrien has shaken up his lines by separating center David Desharnais and left wing Max Pacioretty, who leads the Canadiens with 12 goals and 20 points.

Alex Galchenyuk moves from left wing to center between Pacioretty and Brendan Gallagher. Desharnais will center an all-Quebec line with Pierre-Alexandre Parenteau and Michael Bournival, who returns from a shoulder injury.

Vancouver ends a seven-game road trip, its longest of the season.

Canucks coach Willie Desjardins doesn't expect Montreal's line shakeup to be a significant opportunity for his team to exploit.

"We know they've got good depth throughout their lineup," Desjardins said. "All four lines can come after you. If they didn't have the depth then that would make a difference, but they have good lines all the way through."

Desjardins hopes to see better production from his second line with Nick Bonino centering Chris Higgins and Alexandre Burrows. The trio has no points in their past five games.

"They haven't played as well as they had previously," Desjardins said. "They're a good group, a character group. It's not from a lack of effort. For me, effort's a big part of it. If I didn't think they were trying it would be different, but I do think they're working hard. But saying that, you've got to find a way. Trying's not enough sometimes."

It will be the Canadiens' first home game since Hall of Fame center Jean Beliveau died on Dec. 2. Players and coaches from each team paid their respects to his family Monday, when Beliveau lay in state for the second day in a row at Bell Centre.

The Canadiens will have a pregame tribute for Beliveau, whose funeral is on Wednesday.

"This is special because of the man he was, how big he was in this community and for this organization," Canucks left wing Daniel Sedin said. "So this is special for sure. I think as a player you go through ceremonies pretty much every time you play in Canada. But nothing like tonight. It's going to be a little bit special for sure because of what happened."

Status report: Matthias took alternate line rushes at the morning skate at Bell Centre and will be a game-time decision.

Who's hot: Richardson has three goals and five points in his past three games. Daniel Sedin has two goals and five points in his past four games. Vrbata has two goals and five points over the same stretch … Subban has two goals and five points in his past five games.

not a bAd game, cAnucks hAd their chances, but i thought montreal was the better team more of the

time, and miller made some great saves, but the first goal was a soft one, too bad, as he was playing

so well, it took away from his good play.

too bad they couldn't have at least got one point out of it, but not a bAd road trip overall,

could have been worse.

Pretty disappointing to lose so late in the game. While watched it I thought the Canucks played the better game, at least they seemed to play through more adversity, but the stats say otherwise. Tanev should definitely have been one of the stars, I.M.E.

that winning goal happened exactly as the announcer explained it, burrows had to completely turn around
to stay with plekanic, and that took all of his speed away, he had no momentum and plekanic completely
got away from him. burrows isn't a great skater, needs momentum for speed, he isn't nifty on his skates,
his only weakness on the ice. just one of those things, allowed plekanic to skate in all alone. too bad miller couldn't have bailed him out, but can't blame the
goalie one on one, could go either way.

If I had to blame anyone it would be the referee. I don't think the Canucks deserved five penalties and the Habs only two. There were at least two times when Montreal players were holding Canuck's sticks right in front of the ref. I think the ref was being kind ...more kind than neccesary to the Habs who were grieving last week's ldeath of former player Beliveau.
