There should be no tax relief until the budget is balanced and then priority should be given to paying down the debt.
It is balanced.

This is a tax break to the most productive bunch of Canadians. The ones with one parent staying home to properly raise the next generation of Canadians, and the other parents working his a$$ off to support his family. Thank you Harper for finally helping out the people who actually make this great country, great.
A family is the backbone of society.

I know I will keep voting Conservative, now more than ever given the new pro-family tax relief policies. My wife is a stay at home mom, so the income splitting tax break will definitely benefit my family. Not to mention the new $60/month benefit for children aged 6 to 17.

Great to see the Conservative party reaching out to families this way. Makes one feel welcome. Unlike some unnamed party that has no room for pro-Life members in it's party.

I love the idea of rewarding good behaviour, that everyone in our society will benefit from in the end.
Instead of helping out the ones that have made bad decisions and are now paying the concequences of there actions.

Sure it's true. This will benefit mostly the already well off. Why is it you think they are well off? They made good decisions rather then bad ones.

If you want people to make good decisions. Reward it. And let the bad behaviour have its fullest concequences

Again we have a program announced for election reasons not for the sake of good policy
good policy would be to control the deficit and pay down the debt which will cost far more
than the tax reduction in the end. Sure everyone could use a break but the housekeeping
of infrastructure and debt have not been answered to or addressed.
Secondly we have a program like all other programs that start off with a figure for outlay
we should remember when that happens we should multiply by 3 and hold our breath.
Remember gun registration? Went from millions to billion and this will create problems
for another generation. When do we as citizens learn at some point we have to pay our bills

I'm in favour of doing what we have to do in order to encourage Canadians to have more kids. If this means making it easier for them financially by putting more disposable income in their pockets, then so be it.

I want Canadians to grow their own, I am not in favour of our large immigration numbers.
Immigration is costing us far more than providing the needed costs to raise our own.

Money is directed at the Con base- should have been specifically directed at low incomes, single and couples with children that are low incomes, an additional tax deduction.

Another instance where the Provinces will also carry more of a deficit.

I don't think I want to encourage low income types to have more children, but I am in favour of helping them with child costs.

Most lower income families are low income because of bad decisions. Why would you want the government to reward bad behavior?

Probably also easy to say when one is above the poverty line and one is bored to tears on a Saturday morning after failed attempts to get laid at a sleazy bar and needs to blow frustration for other elements in ones life to feel like one is in control?

Just guessing

It sounds to me more of a promise made, promise kept. Sort of the opposite of the famous big red book of lies floated about in the mid 90s.

lol...he's married with kids...

working consistently around people within the lower income bracket has changed my perception considerably over the years, there are so many variables, it's always the few with in that bracket that tar the many and it is so unfair

also there is a huge difference between massive debt load due to toys (poor choices) and actual grinding poverty where people struggle to feed their babies...who wouldn't want to help babies...lots of people I am finding and I still don't get it

Directed at the Con base?... Are you saying that only Conservative supporters have families and will benefit from a tax cut?

I suppose that if the Lib, Dipper and Green supporters are so well off, you will be supporting a special tax on those that buy memberships in the aforementioned groups.

should have been specifically directed at low incomes, single and couples with children that are low incomes, an additional tax deduction.

Give this a read and get back to me on tax cuts

economics - bar stool economics

Another instance where the Provinces will also carry more of a deficit.

... Of the deficit accrued by the individual provinces.

Bottom line - its OUR money. The money is does not belong to the government!! If we (i.e. Canadians) get to keep it, right on - we earned it. Trudeau doesn't seem to understand that concept but its not surprising considering where he came from.

Honestly!!

We shouldn't be raising a whole generation of kids who think it's OK to freeload from the state. There should be higher taxes for families so kids will learn both the value of a dollar and that freedom ain't freedom.

You still sound emotionally overwrought and upset. Maybe you should take a longer break.
