Where did I bash a poster? By a "troll" thread do you mean a thread that draws answers? So do you have an answer for us as to how many pneumonia shots do we need and what strains of pneumonia are covered by the shot? Or are you just going to continue trolling?

I guess it was just a troll thread. Carry on

Sensitive to criticism – That said, like all narcissists, the sociopath will desire the approval of others and will be highly sensitive to criticisms. They often feel they deserve adulation and admiration of the world and might feel victimized

• Paranoid – Often their lack of understanding of emotion along with their incongruous self view means that they feel a lack of trust and paranoia

• Despotic/Authoritarian – Often the sociopath will see themselves as a necessary authority and will be in favor or totalitarian rule

• Compulsive lying – As part of their facade, and as a means to an end, sociopaths are compulsive liars and will rarely speak truthfully making them hard to pin down

So are you able to solve the conundrum I raised in the O.P.?

I don't know. As I stated, I've never heard of a "pneumonia" shot. Since pneumonia is a condition that is caused by multiple things, either you misunderstood what they were saying or they aren't very knowledgeable health care providers.

You've never heard of the pneumonia shot? Fair enough. Would you not think of getting clarification by checking with a professional? There are a lot of things I've never heard of. I don't start off by arguing with the person who brings it to my attention. I think you should also face up to the fact that Petros has you pegged "to a Tee".

I've never heard of somebody getting a pneumonia shot. I've heard of people getting an influenza shot.

You've never heard of the pneumonia shot?

Nope.

Would you not think of getting clarification by checking with a professional?

I will if the need ever arises. For the purposes of this forum though, google works quite well

I didn't start off arguing. I said I've never heard the term. Perhaps you are just being overly sensitive.

think you should also face up to the fact that Petros has you pegged "to a Tee".

Yup, clearly a troll thread

If you can't offer anything to bring us closer to the answer, why don't you just refrain from continuing to reiterate your ignorance on the subject? What did Google tell you?
The following is what I found in Google
"Pneumococcal
A single dose of pneumococcal 23-valent polysaccharide vaccine (Pneu-P-23) is recommended for adults 65 years of age and older, and for younger adults with specific risk factors. (refer to Table 2) One lifetime re-immunization with Pneu-P-23 vaccine should be considered for those at highest risk of invasive pneumococcal disease.
Hematopoietic stem cell transplant (HSCT) recipients should receive a primary series of 3 doses of pneumococcal 13‑valent conjugate vaccine (Pneu-C-13) starting 3 to 9 months after transplant, after discussion with transplant specialists, followed by a booster dose of Pneu-P-23 vaccine12 to 18 months post-transplant (6 to 12 months after the last dose of Pneu-C-13 vaccine). For other immunosuppressed adults (including those with HIV; anatomic or functional asplenia; sickle cell disease or other hemoglobinopathies; congenital immunodeficiencies; malignant neoplasms including leukemia or lymphoma; who are on immunosuppressive therapies; or who are either a recipient or a candidate for solid organ or islet cell transplant), give 1 dose of Pneu-C-13 vaccine followed 8 weeks later by 1 dose of Pneu-P-23 vaccine. Refer to Pneumococcal Vaccine in Part 4 and Immunization of Immunocompromised Persons in Part 3 for additional information.'"

I'm not sure you would like my answers. As I've already stated, either you misunderstood or the health care professionals aren't very knowledgeable. I suspect the former so I would suggest that you get them to write things down for you.

What did Google tell you?

That I was right. Pneumonia is a condition caused by different things. There is no "pneumonia shot" that will prevent you from getting pneumonia.

Why would you document your ignorance and arrogance for the whole wide world to read? :)

I had the shot, Cannuck, why would you argue about that?

Yup, definitely a troll thread.

I'm not arguing about that. I'm simply pointing out that it isn't a "pneumonia shot". It's a vaccination against certain things that can cause pneumonia. Much like The HPV vaccine that can prevent cervical cancer isn't a "cancer vaccination"

So you are saying the person who gave me the shot didn't know what they were giving me the shot for? Did you not read what Google had to say about it?

I have no idea what the person that gave you the shot thought or didn't think. I'm merely pointing out that regardless you can still get pneumonia. The vaccination you got would only help you against certain things that can cause pneumonia but not everything

"Is Hijacking threads contrary to the forum rules?"

He's only trying to hijack the thread. He hasn't been successful yet

In this case Cannuck is right. Pneumonia can be caused by different things. Pneumonia is a condition not a disease as such. Thirty years ago my doctor warned me that if I didn't stop smoking, I would end up with pneumonia.........I did quit....

Does smoking cause it or does smoking pound the snot out of an immune system opening up the potential for infection?

What's great about the names for medical conditions is that the name is either latin or greek and is a description of the condition. Some diseases are given names by those who "discovered" them, but they also have a medical terminology name which would describe the symptoms or visual condition of a disease, condition, etc.

Pneumo: is pertaining to the lungs.
