Why are many Christians so intolerant of other religions and spiritual paths?

90% of all reds I have received are from Wally. I refuse to lower myself to his level of ignorance by reciprocating.

Unless a poster is a total reprobate or totally disgusting "reds" serve no purpose. The mentality of the donor is exactly the same as the kid who says, "I disagree because".

I give them out in order for people to read stuff i quoted off them.
Unless it's Wally then they are given out to the guy in order for him to have some more to give out

Many of us think we are right just as many of us think we know. Maybe there's something inside us most of us that makes it extremely difficult to admit we could be wrong about, anything. Maybe it's called ego. But we are all wrong about some things at times just as we are all ignorant about some things some times. If we somehow can accept this fact some day on a collective level, tolerance becomes not so much a difficult thing for each of us to practice seems to me.

Absolutely correct, the only thing wrong with being wrong is when some A$$hole tries to use it against you, instead of merely saying "I disagree". -:)

Christians, Cargo Cultists, Thorists (spelling?) are all intolerant as they are enculturated into thinking "Jeepers, how stupid those guys are; their beliefs are totally dumb!"

Because I admire your tolerance.

riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight.

You're statement fits many atheists attitude, not just those of different faiths. It's a human trait/failing, not just a religious one.

As for my tolerance, I consider myself quite tolerant of differing views, cultures, etc. What I am not tolerant of is anything that contributes to or promotes the killing of another human being.

I'm very intolerant while driving in traffic. When someone behind me wants to drive faster than a bullet and cut me off and I have to adjust to someone else's stupidity. I'm very intolerant of folks like that and would like to slap them upside the head most of the time but, I don't. I just gripe to myself and let it pass. As for everyone else's perspective on the grand scheme of things, who gives a rats ayce we're probably all wrong on that one.

More than likely, but for those that are 100% sure about who get's "saved" and who doesn't, I'll lay odds that they are going to get the biggest shock.

I don't profess to know much about religion but I am quickly coming to the conclusion that religious fanatics are stupider than the average Homo Sapien. Last night a fanatic came to the door right when the wife was cooking supper. Where I lose patience is when she starts explaining to them. She still balks at using the phrase "F**K off".
