Looks like Walter just got his period but hasn't quite figured out how to deal with it yet. He is leaving a trail of red everywhere he goes.

Also kinda moody.

Hit menopause years ago. Now I'm bitchy all the time. Rather bitchy than stupid, though.

Fantino takes his orders from the PMO like the rest of them.

No sorry. I have been a critic of the the VAC for years and the problem lies with the fact that Veterans Affair is a quasi judicial force stacked with cronies that are untouchable. The PMO cannot mettle in their business nor can any other MP.

I know that all parties are concerned about the electability of all their candidates.

Who should he take orders from other than his boss?

People are elected by citizens who want those people (politicians) to advocate on their behalf, not to take orders from others. Obviously Fantino can't be doing this on his own and must be acting for someone, other than our Canadian Military Personnel, or he would be relieved of duty.

The way this government is treating the Military versus the way we treated WW2 members is truly dismal, and might I add, perplexing.

I just don't understand why they are being treated this way.

As Lone said "How about the people he's supposed to represent ... or is that just too ethical?".......

What was it, 4+ million to alert vets to the services available ? Wouldn't it have been a LOT cheaper just to send a notice to the vets than the bag of propaganda bs that was meant to impress the "base" rather than be any benefit the vets. Anybody that thinks this moron is anything but a waste of air is....well a mindless tory.

The system needs a complete overhaul. A good start would be canning the Veterans Review and Appeal Board in Charlottetown and make them accountable. Fantino is also part of the problem in that he is unfit for the job, but the issues with the VAC go back generations and cleaning house is what is needed. We had the same issues under Chretien, under Mulroney and although I was a kid I'm betting under Trudeau.

Look at this one. Over 100k spent on tweets. The best part is that only 15% of it was spent on advertising VA services. The other 85% was spent on promoting remembrance day. Why on earth do we need 85k worth of tweets about remembrance day?

Veterans Affairs Canada spent $100,000 on promoted tweets: documents - National | Globalnews.ca

Why is Remberance Day not a Stat in every province?

In Ontario, it's not a stat holiday because they would rather have kids in school so that they can really focus on the meaning of the day. When it is a holiday most kids will just learn about it as a day they get to not go to school.

Electability is determined by the consequences of the their actions therefore if I were
a number of Tory MP's I would be concerned. Not just those who carried out policy
that was not in keeping with the expectations of Canadians but those who through their
vote in the House condoned such actions.
The day of reckoning comes in 2015 and there are many who are waiting to cast a
ballot. I am one of them. Who to vote for don't know but I know where it won't be.

As I said before, the only way the torys can win is cheat, and if the unfair elections act is any indication, they think so too.

They tried, "He's in over his head." That didn't work. They tried,"He'll sell pot to your kids."

That went up in smoke.

Now they're floating the message that Justin Trudeau "consorts with religious extremists." According to the Huffington Post:

Veterans Affairs Minister Julian Fantino, who recently circulated flyers making questionable claims about Trudeau's position on pot legalization, took to Twitter Wednesday to launch a different kind of attack on the Liberal leader.

Fantino's jab about religious extremists is likely related to a story from Sun News that the Liberal leader visited the al-Sunnah al-Nabawiah mosque in his Quebec riding. According to the network, "American government sources" say the mosque "has been an al-Qaeda recruitment centre."

In what was obviously a coordinated attack, Public Safety Minister Steven Blaney chimed in:

Steven Blaney also took to social media on Wednesday and, in posts that were retweeted by the official Conservative Party account, criticized Trudeau for associating with a group that allegedly "radicalizes" Canadians.

Even National Post columnist Jonathan Kay is having a hard time buying this barrage. Sun News, he writes, has gone over the line:

But am I the only observer who is unsettled by Sun News’ casual suggestion that visiting congregants at a mosque is morally akin to visiting convicted criminals in a prison? Or the network’s strategy of scaremongering confused viewers about the number of Muslims in this country? Or libelling a Trudeau advisor as some sort of al-Qaeda cheerleader because his geopolitical views happen to lie to the left of John Baird and Stephen Harper?

Fantino and Blaney have happily joined Sun in crossing that line, forgetting that:

Justin Trudeau’s riding of Papineau is one of the poorest and most diverse in Canada. It is full of immigrants who are wrestling with the process of integrating into Canadian life. What sort of MP would we want for such a riding — one who brags to Sun News viewers about how he wouldn’t set foot within 50 feet of this or that house of prayer, lest he be tainted by association with the teeming Muslim hordes who pray therein … or someone who actually seeks to engage with these people and draw them into the political mainstream?

Fantino, Blaney and Sun -- the government's unofficial mouthpiece -- have confirmed once again that the Harper government truly deserves the sobriquet, "The Nut Gallery."
