Misdirection. English is a language I am still learning. So help me out?
The question was?????????????????????????????????????

The question I was responding to is "How is Hairballs decision democratic when it was imposed."

I am going to assume that "Hairball" is Justin.

The decision is democratic because it clearly lays out the issue so that voters can make an informed choice.

Isn't that kind of the point of democracy, letting the voters decide? Sending someone to Ottawa and then having him vote based on his own personal beliefs seems kind of the opposite of democratic.

I think if Junior wants to run a country he should start with a small one like Andorra or Monaco.

Democratic from the top down? Care to explain that?
What are Party Conventions on Policy for?
Hairball AKA Justin the Lesser is using a divisive tactic.
Problem is he made a bad decision.

How is Hairballs decision democratic when it was imposed. Guess I must be missing one hell of a lot?

Because voters have a choice?

You do realize Harper is doing much worse by enacting the same policy but pretending he's not, don't you?

This is establishing a firm rule so that MPs will make sure they have enough time to properly consider who they want to support.

It's early in his leadership, so this is the right time to do it.

And on an issue like this, I would agree there should be unanimous, unwavering support in favour of abortion.

I have a bit of an issue with your idea that more free votes would lead to MPs representing their constituents better. The fact is that the majority of people in Canada don't know anything about their local MP.

Most, not all. Personally I vote for an MP, not a leader or a brand.

Whipped votes have been a part of this type of parliamentary democracy since it's inception.

Again with the misdirection
You are also aware that Hairball has run away from that very question of whipped votes. But that is itself a distraction.
So try to focus on a simple, clear and concise question.
If there is an issue with the question, let me know.
So back to the top down single person directive. How is that Democratic.

It's democratic because it's an option that a leader can exercise in our democratic system.

If you don't like that policy then you should direct your attention toward policy reform, not Trudeau.

Lol a mandatory pro-choice is as idiotic as the day when he claimed knowledge of firearms by admiting that he use to play with the family bodyguard's handgun.

allowing your MP's free votes on votes of conscience have been a part of our parliamentary system for ever also. Historically, whipped votes have only been used on policy and non confidence votes. JT is now moving towards ALL votes being whipped with the individual MP's having no autonomy what so ever. With that being the case, why have all these sitting MP's in the first place. We could still have the same number of riding's with just the leaders of the party's running in each one since all existing MP's are expected to vote with one voice, that of the party leader.

Can you show evidence where Justin is moving toward all votes being whipped?

How do they differ?

Justin says he won't allow a free vote on the issue.

Harper says he won't reopen the abortion debate.

One is the cold, hard truth.

The other is fuzzy wuzzy carebear lying.

You just answered your own question. JT also said he would keep his mits out of local riding associations decisions for candidates. That isn't happening.
