Can I ask something?

Petros, if you genuinely want to know something about what I believe or feel, please do ask. I only ask that you don't ask questions designed to slam me for my beliefs. I don't feel compelled to change others minds and I think it speaks volumes about the persons inabillity to have meaningful discussion when they assume on behalf of the other person.

Don't worry. It's a fair question.

You posted this which made me curious:
I can't even begin to describe how demeaning it is to go into a welfare office and ask for the handout. Or having to tell everyone who asks (and people do as what you do for a living. It's small talk ) that you're on welfare. The worse experience of my life. Sometimes it's not your choice to take welfare. It was something I had to do in order that my daughter not starve and because I didn't want her raised in foster care by strangers.
l'm curious why you felt shame and humiliation asking for a piece of what is yours? Was it what you were trained to feel? Without outside idealisms, stereotypes and misconceptions, would it have been a horrible experience?

The long term effects of abortion........

According to Coleman’s study, abortion was associated with a 34% increased risk for anxiety disorders; 37% greater risk of depression; 110% greater risk of alcohol abuse and 220% greater risk of marijuana use/abuse.* Abortion was also linked with a 155% greater risk of attempting to commit suicide.

A study that couldn't be replicated using the same data set and coding, that was not properly controlled- turns out that past mental health disorders are important to control for when investigating mental health risk factors...duh.

Why I felt shame and humiliation: Because I was begging for a free handout. Because I was raising my daughter but not supporting her. I did make all the choices that led me there and still felt responsible for choosing wrong and at the same time I felt not in control.

Without outside idealisms, stereotypes and misconceptions, would it have been a horrible experience: I don't know. I want to say no, it probably wouldn't have been, but I don't know how much was in my head. Some of it was that because I was on welfare and I didn't have interactions with parents NOT on welfare. I remember joining a young moms group and allowing one lady there to make me feel like shy te. She let it be known she felt I was a welfare bum. I didn't think I could defend myself since she was right, I was on welfare.

again, show me what I have "assumed" wrongly.

Do you want to discuss? or do you want to slam me because I don't hold to the same beliefs as you?

I see, you want me to say ..." that's ok, don't worry about the fact that you support killing inocent children, I understand." Sorry, that ain't gonna happen, any more than me telling Olson "it's ok that you killed innocent children, I understand".

What makes abortion any different when it comes to outside idealisms, stereotypes, misconceptions and pressures?

The money you "begged for" was yours to begin with. How is utilizing what is already yours a shame?

To me it appears the myths around pregnancy and being a parent are a very important factors in the abortion decision.

Right or wrong outside influence jades the decision of the gal. It's not really "her choice" is it?

Nope, I don't want you to say that. You clearly do not want to discuss this. You want to bombastically preach from your perceived moral soap box what you believe. I've read your opinion on this. You've been clear. You can stop now. I don't agree with you and I'm ok with it.

But. . . but. . . a self-proclaimed scientist quoted it! It just HAS to be all scientifical!

Well f-ck face, maybe it is very much scientific. Good enough to make Us National Library of Medicine.

If you are idiot enough to jump on The Peabody Bandwagon of F-cked in the Head Morons go right ahead.

Once again, the myth that money that has changed possession in a proper, legal manner remains the property of the person who had it.

The applicants.

I didn't feel the money I was begging for was mine. I hadn't earned it. I was 19 and my taxable contributions to date were not covering that amount.

Myths around pregnancy: You could be right. Which myths are you referring to? I know when I was pregnant I was terrified about raising a child. I didn't know if I'd have it in me to do the right things by the child.

It's not really "her choice" is it?: do you mean her decision hasn't taken into account realities, just outside influences? Could be. I can't speak for every women who has faced an unplanned pregnancy or a pregnancy that has health risks to her or her baby. I can't even begin to know what is the best choice for any female who finds herself pregnant. There are far too many factors at play. It's why I believe it's the individuals decision.
