Discovered and kept secret in the year 2000, the book contains the Gospel of Barnabas – a disciple of Christ – which shows that Jesus was not crucified, nor was he the son of God, but a Prophet. The book also calls Apostle Paul “The Impostor”. The book also claims that Jesus ascended to heaven alive, and that Judas Iscariot was crucified in his place.

By the way this concept is an Islamic one.
They believe Prophets can not be killed and Ascend into heaven.
They also believe that Judas died on the cross and it was a trick that made it look like Jesus.
Jesus being an Islamic Prophet of God could not die on a cross.

I realize that but if the book is as old as they say it would predate Islam. There are plenty of other sources that claim the same thing.

That's nice, but it's not a reason to believe that what that person told you is true, only that he or she believes it to be true, it's not evidence for the claim. I'm sure you're a reliable, honest, and trustworthy person too, but that doesn't mean I should accept that claim as true. I accept that you believe it to be true, but it was reason and evidence that led me to apostasy, so I believe that claim to be false.

In times past in other threads I've put it this way: The story is that there was a magic tree whose fruit was forbidden, there was a talking serpent who duped a gullible woman into eating the fruit, then she duped her equally gullible partner (though she paid much the greater price for it), and as a result we are all cursed with an evil spell on our souls called original sin, then along comes a guy who was executed as a scapegoat for everything we've ever done and ever will do wrong, but he gets reanimated by a supernatural force and now promises eternal life and removal of the spell if we accept him as lord and master, believe the right things, and follow the proper rituals. Stripped of its specious niceties, that is the core claim of Christianity. Anybody who understands how reason and evidence work would recognize that for the fairy tale it is.

Reason is not an impediment to faith, Dex. It is reasonable to accept testimony about Christ from a Christ-like witness. A closed mind secondary to a wounded, walled-off heart hinders faith: "What you say flows from what is in your heart." (Luke 6:46 NLT)

Ummm! How does this account for lying, deceit and con men? Psychopaths are consummate deceivers. They can fake honesty, sincerity and sympathy but are in fact incapable of any real emotion. For a supposed nurse, you seem rather naive about the ways of humans. You choose what you want to believe. We all do.

Do we, I'm not so certain...I didn't really choose to drift away from Christianity it was just a progression of occurrences... I didn't turn away from it nor even challenge my belief so much as just began to view my spiritual experiences in another way

I have never had any doubt about there being a higher power regardless of how black the night. Not to say I didn't experience deep anger when I was a Christian because at some points I did. But it didn't change my belief.

My god has not changed merely my understanding.

interesting to say the least.
Islam was carved out from what was and had been.
Maybe this was part and parcel to the thought of the day.
The paradigm was in play and somehow got weeded out.

The bible was in flux for the first thousand years or so. Today's version barely resembles the original.

Yeah , I would say your right.

When I was a kid in School, Catholic School, I recall we were taught that the New Testament we read today was not written down for a few hundred years after the death of Jesus.

But today it seems scholars say some gospels were written down as soon as 45 years after his death.

Anyone watch Red Dwarf?

I loved the part where Lister learned he was the Cats' God. I loved the whole story.

It is impressive that so many books can create A book for such a large group of people who all believe in different parts of it and interpret it differently.

Gene Roddenberry's approach was way classier and pretty awesome.

Reason is not an impediment to faith, Dex.
Saying it over and over again doesn't make it true. You're still wrong, and your persistence with that claim means you don't really understand what reason is. You cannot arrive at faith by reason, but only by suspending your reason and accepting as true claims for which there is no or very bad evidence.

Saying it over and over again doesn't make it true..
So why do the current governments keep doing that very thing?

Not quite, for Eve's mistake God gave her pain in childbirth and an increase in how many children she would have just to make sure there were some people alive to complete the Ge:3:15 prophecy. The cross wqas the completion of the bruise to the heel. The completion of the bruise to Satan's head (fallen angel rather than serpent with wings folded) at that time the number resurrected from the grave will equal the number of children that would have been born if sin (and death) had never entered the world.

It's hard to credit that someone as intelligent as you appear to be would believe nonsense like that.

For the same reason churches do. While continual repetition does nothing to truth value, it does make believers of the weaker minded.
The bolded part is true, however a certain amount of repetition is going to be needed if you are going to get all there is in the Bible that references just the verse below. The bulk (all but the first and last 3 chapters) of the Bible is only about the solution to the two bruises. History will record the events in the opposite order but that is because God lists them in order of imourtance and the 'finish line' is the completion of both bruises. The age of 120 years applies to Moses in that he did not live past that age, he was the first Prophet sent by God to Abraham's children and that specific group was well established as 'His people' by the time 30AD rolled around. 3 1/2 years after that the prophecy about the bruise to the head would be given to the Gentiles and the NT was the 'finishing touch' to what was left out of the prophecies given in the OT. (this fact is somewhat upsetting to most of the current Rabbis, as designed by God)

We are given two laws and the 1st is to God and the 2nd is to all the other members of the (same) flock. Saying the Lord's Prayer could be considered to be 'repetition' but calling somebody by name is not repetition. It is how a certain person pays attention to what comes after that Amen. That would vary each time and prayers for knowledge about the Bible would probably be the ones that would get a reply rather than some of the other ones that 'are before the appointed time'. Luckily I don't have to explain it any further for it to be quite clear.

Lu:18:8-14:
I tell you that he will avenge them speedily.
Nevertheless when the Son of man cometh,
shall he find faith on the earth?
And he spake this parable unto certain which trusted in themselves that they were righteous,
and despised others:
Two men went up into the temple to pray;
the one a Pharisee,
and the other a publican.
The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself,
God,
I thank thee,
that I am not as other men are,
extortioners,
unjust,
adulterers,
or even as this publican.
I fast twice in the week,
I give tithes of all that I possess.
And the publican,
standing afar off,
would not lift up so much as his eyes unto heaven,
but smote upon his breast,
saying,
God be merciful to me a sinner.
I tell you,
this man went down to his house justified rather than the other:
for every one that exalteth himself shall be abased;
and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted.

M't:6:5-8:
And when thou prayest,
thou shalt not be as the hypocrites are:
for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets,
that they may be seen of men.
Verily I say unto you,
They have their reward.
But thou,
when thou prayest,
enter into thy closet,
and when thou hast shut thy door,
pray to thy Father which is in secret;
and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly.
But when ye pray,
use not vain repetitions,
as the heathen do:
for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking.
Be not ye therefore like unto them:
for your Father knoweth what things ye have need of,
before ye ask him.

the corners of the streets, = any Church open on Sunday or any media publication

valid Church a defined in the 7 letters to 7 angels, heads of the 7 churches and prayers would include their assistance during the time the Bible gives them. Maximum time would be 3 1/2 years before the return, minimum would be less that one hour.

M't:18:20:
For where two or three are gathered together in my name,
there am I in the midst of them.

'I know thy works,' is used 7 times and those are the keys to remaining alive on the day of His return. The Church will be 1/3 of the Gentiles on the whole planet gathered from the whole planet. That's a 33% chance if you know enough about what else is said in the Bible about that specific era. The ones that survive are called 'children of the light' and the Bible is the light, know enough of the prophecies and that could help you in the last period when sincere prayer is going to get results. Slick is the best way prophecy would fit into events that must first unfold and if God had His own Son go to the grace for the bruise to the heel you can bet sparing others from the grave doesn't have a real high priority because death is like being put into God's 'pocket' rather than stepped on and always staying that way. If it was that way He would have written salvation to accommodate that law, that's why He is God.

The first verses of this chapter are about the 12 Tribes, same as Re:7 has the 144,000 as being first and that is because they are the first of the group that is gathered to the Kingdom of Heaven as it will be applied to the earth, the end of the earth as we know it from as far back as Ge:3:15. The latter portion of Re:7 is about the Gentiles who appear before God at the GWT so Re:7 is about the first and last men included in salvation and entrance into a new earth that is perfected while this earth is only made 'very good' and that flaw is why there was a failure to follow the Law.
The last angel says Babylon has fallen so it if 3PM on the day the two witnesses are resurrected and the angel sent with the scythe is to collect the sinners of the world. The grave waits for them and they next appear before God and get chastised as described in Hebrews:12 and then they can enter the new earth like the ones saved before them. If you see the 3rd angel you will be alive for the 1,000 years and in that time you become a perfected Saint and your 'first clients' are the ones that did not qualify for life when you did. Re:20 calls them 'the rest', the New Earth calls them 'the flock' and that number will always increase, the number of Shepherds never increases or decreases. Getting there has several routes, meeting Satan from the book of Job is a requirement if you belong to the lucky 1/3 that meet Christ and not seeing the grave.

Re:14:6-8:
And I saw another angel fly in the midst of heaven,
having the everlasting gospel to preach unto them that dwell on the earth,
and to every nation,
and kindred,
and tongue,
and people,
Saying with a loud voice,
Fear God,
and give glory to him;
for the hour of his judgment is come:
and worship him that made heaven,
and earth,
and the sea,
and the fountains of waters.
And there followed another angel,
saying,
Babylon is fallen,
is fallen,
that great city,
because she made all nations drink of the wine of the wrath of her fornication.

Re:15:1-4:
And I saw another sign in heaven,
great and marvellous,
seven angels having the seven last plagues;
for in them is filled up the wrath of God.
And I saw as it were a sea of glass mingled with fire:
and them that had gotten the victory over the beast,
and over his image,
and over his mark,
and over the number of his name,
stand on the sea of glass,
having the harps of God.
And they sing the song of Moses the servant of God,
and the song of the Lamb,
saying,
Great and marvellous are thy works,
Lord God Almighty;
just and true are thy ways,
thou King of saints.
Who shall not fear thee,
O Lord,
and glorify thy name?
for thou only art holy:
for all nations shall come and worship before thee;
for thy judgments are made manifest.

Re:7:13-17:
And one of the elders answered,
saying unto me,
What are these which are arrayed in white robes?
and whence came they?
And I said unto him,
Sir,
thou knowest.
And he said to me,
These are they which came out of great tribulation,
and have washed their robes,
and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.
Therefore are they before the throne of God,
and serve him day and night in his temple:
and he that sitteth on the throne shall dwell among them.
They shall hunger no more,
neither thirst any more;
neither shall the sun light on them,
nor any heat.
For the Lamb which is in the midst of the throne shall feed them,
and shall lead them unto living fountains of waters:
and God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes.

Isa:65:17:
For,
behold,
I create new heavens and a new earth:
and the former shall not be remembered,
nor come into mind.

Isa:65:24-25:
And it shall come to pass,
that before they call,
I will answer;
and while they are yet speaking,
I will hear.
The wolf and the lamb shall feed together,
and the lion shall eat straw like the bullock:
and dust shall be the serpent's meat.
They shall not hurt nor destroy in all my holy mountain,
saith the LORD.

He sees scripture as code; he is deciphering it.
He only memorizes, he lets others decode what he can't, his version of Revelation will change to suit the 'elements on the ground' but at least he is taking the claims to be as lieteral as they were intended to be so fooling him would be just as hard for a believer based on faith the Bible is correct in all it says. (we are tasked to putting a puzzle together, together also means it take an agreement between members so don't expect any changes as the false Christians are part of the sinners that perish within a few hours. The 'saved' get to walk to Jerusalem in a body that is the same as the one Jesus had on the morning of the resurrection and the glorification process will be done at Jerusalem and at the river that heals the Dead Sea (Eze:47) Being in Canada we would get to walk across the Pacific leaving lots of room for a few 'I told ya so's ' before coming to Jerusalem and the various 'changes' that show it was not spared anything that also took out all the Gentile's cities at the same time.

Spoken like a woman. Men are more focused on logic and usually have no idea where their heart even is. Comes from letting the small brain do most of the thinking.

From my perspective, Logic is an egocentric activity while intuition is more heart based (not necessarily having anything to do with the physical heart), but comes more from our connection to Source. If your heart tells you something is right, then by all means go with it. Just be aware that is may be right for you but it does not mean it is right for anybody else.
