Rock on Rangers..................! Nice going Alain........and now for a meeting with my Penguins.

The key to tonight's win vs Philly happened at the end of last night's loss when Zuccarello scored - recall how Simmonds went after him for no reason at all except to show how he is willing to throw his weight around. This served as a wake up call to the Rangers in tonight's match as defenseman McDonagh gave Simmonds a forearm shiver to keep him in line. Too often the Rangers shots were from the point rather than up in front of the crease - but still they had enough to score the winner and go onto the next phase vs Pitt.

One thing I still don't like about the Rangers is their puny PP. All too often they dump and chase rather than drive the puck into the zone. Hopefully they will make an adjustment in this regard as well as charge the net more forcefully.

well, whatever else happens tonight, the best news that could have been announced for me, is that
torterella will be fired tomorrow.
thank you trevor linden, you were patient, and i patiently waited for this announcement, and now
you can go forward and bring this team back into respectability like it was for so many years.
torterella doesn't add that aspect to a team, just the opposite, and i don't like his format
for coaching at all, so i'll be glad to see the last of him as he goes back over the 49th to
where he belongs, it will be interesting to see who is the next coach.

i hope the next g.m. is a canadian, who loves this
country, wants to live here, and canadian hockey flows thru his veins.
this is the beginning of a new era, and i can't wait to see how it all goes forward over the
next few years, it'll be fun.

glad the rangers won, normally i wouldn't really care who wins this next series against pittsburg, but vineault is there so i will cheer for he and his rangers.

minnesota won in overtime, a great series, both teams looked real good, colorado will be a fun team
to watch for many years, with all of those great young players.

looks like l.a. is going to win this series with san jose, 3 minutes left.
3-1 for l.a. l.a. just scored in the empty net, now 5-1, so writing on
the wall. both very good teams, wierd way they played this series, 3
straight wins for san jose then 4 straight for l.a., but l.a.did look
like the better team during their 4 game win, so they deserve this victory.

Well, the Lanche is dead and the Sharks have both skates on banana peels! It's going to be Habs vs. Ducks! -:)

i wonder if they can beat pittsburgh in a 7 game tourney, hope so. rick nash had a good game tonight,
and he has to keep playing strong, they need him to do that. rangers have better goaltending than
pittsburgh, but crosby is due, hasn't done much of anything to this point, malkin finally woke up,
but that might be it for him, he is probably exhausted from trying that hard, he's not use to doing
that.

What are we celebrating? Maybe we should wait until the Habs actually win the Cup!

nice try jlm, you know what we're celebrating, and it allready happened, don't have to wait any longer.

ok, concerning montreal/boston. i certainly will be pulling for the habs, but there is no way they
should come out of that series as the victor, boston is a much deeper, bigger, better team, but of
course the games have to be played, SO, the only thing habs fans can hope for is the 'history' of
their relationship to click in, and then the habs will give boston fits, and the series will be
very hard fought and someone will win it in overtime in the 7th game.
my thoughts are, boston will eventually run roughshod all over montreal, it will be rough, but
i just can't see how the habs could ever win, just doesn't make sense.
habs might try to make boston players mad by yapping and picking away at them, hoping for them to
lose their composure and take a lot of penalties, but that could also reverse itself and the same
could happen to montreal.

this will be fun.

If the refs actually call the cheap shots that the Bruins usually dish out the pp might be a hope for the Habs.

Yep, but it's sad when a person who is probably basically a decent person fails. There's worse...........Keenan for instance. Without being mean I thought I'd remind you that S.J. was going places!-:) Go Habs, go!!!

that can work for both sides, cause tampa could be ticked for the same reason against them, as i saw it.

from what i saw from the boston team this year, including playoffs, boston will rely on their depth
and efficiency, until the cheap shots start coming from the other side, so i see both teams losing
it in this series.
boston is a real good team, no weaknesses at all, and goaltending is second to none, and their coach
will not tolerate them forgetting about their responsibilities and getting dirty, he is a great
coach, has not tolerated marchand's crap over the years, has punished him for doing dumb things,
but he still has one loose screw left, so has to be watched, but he also hasn't been playing as
well as he should, and he must concentrate on his hockey so he can make good plays, as he can,
he is a good player, if he is focused properly.

i can't stand lucic, he is an arrogant fool, and if isn't being treated like the super star he thinks
he is, from the opposition, he will do the 'crotch' thing or worse.

habs are not angels, they have their own tactics, and that can get them into trouble too.

,

your little general remarks don't really address anything, and i know you didn't watch the whole series
between l.a. and san jose, so all that you see is the fact that they lost, i'd like you to give me your
detailed opinion 'why' you think san jose lost.

mine is this; to begin with 'all western teams in the playoffs are capable of winning', ok?, i had a favourite, san jose, for emotional reasons, which i explained sometime back a ways.

first 3 games, jonathan quick was struggling, san jose rolled over them quite nicely, lots of goals, then
quick closed the door, and played like he can, and san jose couldn't get much by him at all, but san jose
then struggled a bit with goaltending, so that is how i see that series, if they had traded goalies the
series would have been the other way around.

now, how did you see the series, or does winning and losing thoroughly explain everything to you.

and no, you weren't being mean, i do understand that your comments never
come from the play or just how teams are going, but from cute little
sayings that to me, don't explain anything.

you knew i was cheering for san jose, and they lost, now i will cheer for
another team, has nothing to do with what team will win or lose, as
ALL western teams are good enough to win.

I was just teasing you, Talloola, since the Canucks went out, I just check the highlights once in awhile. The only reason I want the Habs to win is more from National loyalty and the fact they were a dynasty back in their heyday. I don't doubt you at all as to your judgment of the quality of the teams, except to say sheer guttiness and determination can compensate for other short falls.

sheer guttiness and determination will be shown from boston and montreal in this series, no team will
win without those qualities.
those qualities are seen in boston all the time, one reason for them to be
at the top of the heap going into these playoffs.

boston has no 'superstars', they use all of their players, all 4 lines,
and the coach has taught them well, so they are diciplined to always
play a thorough game, then the goalie is there and is very qualified.

montreal must do the same, no antics from subban, no heroics, and i wonder
if bourque can keep on this good play, as he does absolutely nothing all season.
and of course price will be his usual efficient self.

mean is a funny word to use when you are just teasing, no, you were rubbing it in because san jose lost,
and you knew i had predicted them to go far, and i was cheering for them.
it would have been interesting if i had been 'crushed' by your meaness, lol., but it is still a funny
word to use, so you must have thought you were being mean.

and nothing on this forum from the first day i joined could crush me, oh no, wait, i remember years ago,
someone telling me i was just like the devil cause i am an atheist, and i confided in 'sanctus', whom i
made good friends with, and he assured me at that time that was not true. looking back on that incident,
i realize i have come a very long way from then, and 'nothing' would hurt my feelings here now, absolutely
nothing, as it all belongs to the person doing the 'slinging', not i, so 'all is well'.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
just listened to trevor linden's press conference concerning the firing of torterella, and it was very
interesting, he went over lots of issues, answered lots of questions, and didn't throw torterella under
the bus at all, BUT right near the end a question was asked to him. did the style of coaching this
season have a bearing on your final decision on this matter.

he said it did, and that the canuck team is set up to play a certain style of hockey, and the style
played this season wasn't what the team needs to succeed. (my paraphrasing,)

i was happy to hear him say that, because it is exactly how i felt, and now i know he won't hire another
coach who pushes a style of hockey onto this team that will insure that they fail again.

there is nowhere to go with this team now but 'up', so the new g.m. and new coach will have their hands
full turning them around and begin to move forward in the right direction.

In a friendly kind of way. You are dwelling too much on one word - I would never be mean in merely discussing sports, but I might poke a little fun. -:)

i am pouring a glass of wine as we speak, in celebration.!!!!!!!!!!

I just heard the news, talloola and had to check in to see what you had to say about the firing. If I listened really hard, I just might hear the bells ringing out in Vancouver over the news. LOL! I don't disagree with what you had to say just that, for me, the team - the players never lost my respect. I would say that bringing respectability back to management is the important thing - well that and finding a good coach. Trevor Linden has upped the respectability level 100% so far. I am truly happy for Canuck fans.

Just getting ready to watch the Habs and Bruins.........I expect this to be a very brutal series........just hope the players manage to stay - somewhat - healthy.

Go Montreal!

i wonder if they can beat pittsburgh in a 7 game tourney, hope so.

Well I am hoping that my Penguins actually wake up and take the Rangers in 4 games.........but then I come back down to earth and wonder if they will make it to 4. LOL! Haven't a clue how this series will go...........you are right about the Rangers having the better net-minder, for sure..........I worry a lot about Fleury.

good game, very typical montreal/boston battle from old, they never disappoint, lots of entertainment,

missed most of the overtime, we took the dogs for a drive, bought them a child size ice cream, got home

to see period 2 of overtime.

montreal battled well, And so did boston, good game.

friday- minnesota/chicAgo and pittsburgh/rangers

Beautiful OT goal by PK. Glad to see the Habs take it to Boston at home. Go Montreal!
