Sorry Twila, I am trying to multi task and am failing miserably.

No apologies necessary.

Your Question: Then how could Jesus have died for mans sins? Where's the sacrifice if he wasn't really going to die?
He did really die.

But in an earlier post you said Jesus was God. God can't die I thought. So Jesus couldn't have died. And would have had no fear of death and therefore there would have been no sacrifice on his part.

At noon, darkness came over the whole land until three in the afternoon. 34 And at three in the afternoon Jesus cried out in a loud voice, “Eloi, Eloi, lema sabachthani?” (which means “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?”).

He was talking to himself?

An in depth study of the Trinity is necessary. :)
Both Old & New Testaments support the doctrine of the Trinity. Human reason naturally finds this teaching a stumbling block. One God, yet three distinct persons. Read first chapter of John and first chapter of Hebrews for more clarity. Keep in mind the total of Scripture expresses this mystery.

Twila, it's anyone that doesn't think like CJ and Motar. Anyone that doesn't believe what they believe. I am a "luke warm Christian" as far as they are concerned, but then, there's people like PoliticalNick who consider me a Christian fanatic. Go figure eh.

Gerry, I'm not sure your spiritual temperature is even relevant here.

The crudeness/condescension in your "I'm not rude..." status and "Who lit the fuse..." rhetoric in your posts casts serious doubts on your confessed Christianity. I have never ever heard Jesus Christ address anyone this way.

JLM,
His sheep do not need other sources to confirm the existence of their Shepherd. We know His voice.

and yet, I am mocked for stating that I have heard his voice and what I am told contradicts some of what you are teaching. Strange that eh. I guess I should have been born 2000 years ago and wrote it out. Then I would be believed without question.

and there we have what I have stated previously. Also, I have never alluded to being Christ, or even coming close to who and what he was and is. Unlike the holier than thou's in here and else where.

I'm curious, what was it Christ did and said again in the temple to the money changers?

The glaring gap between your talk (I am a Christian) and your walk (conduct towards others in this forum) is puzzling.

It's really no different than yours. Difference is, I'm up front and am not condescending in any way nor do I cloak my words.

Christianity is a life-transforming relationship, Gerry. The presence and power of Christ in a believer produce Christ-likeness.

John describes Jesus as "full of grace and truth". (John 1:14 NIV) Christ is understanding and exacting, forgiving and forthright. With the humble seeker, Christ is gentle and instructive. With the hostile hinderer, He is direct and corrective. He knows when to offer the carrot and when to extend the stick. This should come as no surprise to anyone who has read the gospels.

Thanks CJ44. One God, yet three distrinct persons. That answers it enough for me.

I am also curious, Gerry. You have referenced Scripture here:

"When it was almost time for the Jewish Passover, Jesus went up to Jerusalem. In the temple courts he found people selling cattle, sheep and doves, and others sitting at tables exchanging money. So he made a whip out of cords, and drove all from the temple courts, both sheep and cattle; he scattered the coins of the money changers and overturned their tables. To those who sold doves he said, “Get these out of here! Stop turning my Father’s house into a market!” His disciples remembered that it is written: “Zeal for your house will consume me." (John 2:13-17 NIV)

In other posts on this forum, you have challenged the authority of the Bible. Do you embrace only certain books/chapters/verses?

Yeah, I always thought being a Christian meant showing tolerance and compassion!

Would this be wrong? Do you have to find a way to embrace every thing in the bible?

If something doesn't make sense to me I have a hard time embracing it. I know many things have changed since Biblical days but I don't think the basic laws of biology have.
