Yeah ? If people stopped moving there from the east, who would do the work, not albertains. If it weren't for the evil easterners you'd still be living in sod houses.

Don't be so silly. Immigrants from Asia are far smarter and harder working than easterners.

These losers can't compete to make cars that the Canadian public will like so they want the Feds to put protections in place so they don't lose their jobs!!

Suck it up you losers!!!

Canada-South Korea trade deal worries Ontario auto industry - Politics - CBC News

Ontario is worried Korean-made automobiles will flood the country, putting thousands of jobs in Canada's auto sector at risk, under the terms of a yet-to-be-announced trade deal between Canada and South Korea.

A source familiar with the negotiations told CBC News that Ontario is "very concerned" about the length of the phase-out period for the 6.1 per cent tariff, to be announced on Tuesday.

The province would like to see the longest phase-out possible, but is disappointed that the federal government has not managed to negotiate the seven- or even five-year phase-out period that the EU and U.S. were able to obtain.

Ontario is also disappointed that the federal government has not been able to negotiate a "snap-back" provision, as the U.S. did, which would allow Canada to reimpose tariffs if Korea puts up non-tariff barriers such as strict requirements on engine size, which are prejudicial to North American vehicles.

Etc

I support the free trade agreement (at least in principle anyway since I haven't read the details yet) and I live in Ontario, or so I thought. Funny that.

Send the oil now.

Build the P/L and we can settle then

I'm sick to death of gloating westerners, they're still just colonies of the east, uppity rustics with a bit of fast oil money what they waste on loose women and booze.

.. And exactly what's wrong with booze and hookers?

You Quakers really crack me up

We'll see how fast Uncle Sham vacuums them dry. They'll shrivel up like the limp organs they really are soon enough.

With what?... Surely you don't mean money, unless they get permission from the Chinese that hold all their debt

I sense that you spend much time yelling at your computer screen

Exports up the hoop. Have you noted that grain farmers in the west are losing a bundle as the rail companies cannot ship their product. Yet other products move efficiently.
The US just brought in Country of Origin. This affects beef/pork producers due to the complexity of the rules of origin and labeling. This comes from their beef-pork producers.

Can't or won't ship grain?

The Free Trade agreement with Korea is a very good deal for Canada.
Because the US already has a Trade agreement with Korea, Canada was losing a lot of trade with Korea because Korea was trading more with the US than with Canada on many of the same commodities.
Now with this agreement in place, Canada should be able to pick up the trade pace with Korea and get us back in the trading game with Korea and other Asian countries.

Stephen Harper takes on Ford over South Korea trade deal - Politics - CBC News
----
The free trade agreement will, along with dropping other barriers, phase out Canadian tariffs on imports of South Korean cars over three years.

Under the agreement, Canada's 6.1 per cent tariff on imports of South Korean passenger cars would be phased out in three annual cuts — with the first cut coming as soon as the agreement comes into force.

Key facts and figures from the trade deal

Going the other way, South Korea's eight per cent tariff on imports of cars coming from Canada would be eliminated as soon as the agreement was implemented, as well as South Korea's three to eight per cent tariff on imports of automotive parts.

The agreement is being touted as one that would give Canadians "unprecedented access" to Korea's $1.1-trillion economy and at the same time create "thousands of new jobs" in Canada.

While Ford Canada said it can't support the deal, Harper said the company already has access to the South Korean market through the U.S. and its free trade deal with South Korea.

I don't know why the media is focusing so much on the auto industry, there are a whole lotta other commodities and goods and services that this agreement will give us the ability to sell to Korea. And this in turn will give us a window to sell to other Asian countries.

The only thing you'll be selling in Asia is the remaining Canadian taxpayers. Take you're TPP and stuff it.

I see by one or more posts in this thread that it may b difficult to depend on rail transport to the western front. I had planned on discussing a summer invasion with Via Rail.
