Russia needs to get their butts in gear or they are not going to the Gold Medal round as they are down 3 to 1 to the Fins in the 3rd.

It's 3-3 between Britain and Sweden in the men's curling semi-final. It's proper sporting tension.
***************************************

GB beat Sweden 6-5 with the final stone to reach the men's curling final. Now they are guaranteed at least a silver.

Good on Davie! He had a tough RR but he came through when it counted. Nikki Edin must be stunned after sailing through the RR. So Davie will play Brad for the Gold.

Game on.

Go Team Canada

Rock the Ice Guys! :canada:

As I was watching Team Canada hand China a berth to the Bronze Medal game, our Canadian Women's Bobsleigh team was busy rockin' the chutes taking the Gold in their event. Rock on ladies. You Go Girls. :canada:

When Canada beat the Brits a few days ago they wouldn't even shake hands with the Canadian team.

That's really weird. These guys have played each other a lot in the last couple of years. They even played on the same teams during the Continental Cup. Mind you, Davie was going through a real bad patch for a good part of his RR and there was much talk about how GB threw Tom Brewster to the wolves - well the coaching box - then brought in Davie Murdoch. Murdoch missed a lot of his shots too during the RR - big important shots. So he wasn't exactly in a friendly mood when he lost to Brad as it was his shot that gave Canada the win. Still......not very Olympian of Mr Murdoch.

When Team Canada scored their first triple, I knew they were on their way to victory. They were playing so much better than the Chinese rink by end 5. Well done, Team Canada. 10 - 6 win over China.
:canada:

I gotta admire those little Latvians - they are truly playing their hearts out and their goalie is standing on his head. This may come down to a war of attrition - just wear the little guys out and pop one in.

Wow! Those Latvians deserve sooooo much credit - what a game. Their goalie stopped 56 shots - outstanding performance by the kid.

Hard fought win for our guys. :canada:

the hockey game was just what i was mentioning last night. the goalie played out of his mind.
one would think at least two of all of those shots could have bounced
in off of 'someone or something'.

canada had no puck luck at all, and latvia played their their guts out, checked, checked checked, and had lots

of spunk and determination, it took the whole game to win it for canada.

price didn't have much business, but there was a lot of pressure on him

each time latvia had a scoring chance, because one little error or even

a shot that went off of another player could have made the game even

tighter.

good for them, semi final against u.s.a. friday.

Well, one more should have gone in but they also decided to cheat a bit.

Regardless, it was a pretty impressive showing for a team like Latvia against Canada. Especially serendipitous for Gudļevskis who had an incredible game and also just happens to be a prospect in Yzerman's Tampa Bay Lightning organization. I'm sure he got his attention.

I kind of hate watching games like that though. There was no real back and forth, just one team trying to frustrate the other team as much as possible for 60 minutes. Canada/US should be different.

At least four more gold medals are possible for Canada in Curling and Hockey and maybe more in other sports.

Talloola you are right that Canada/Latvia game was a squeaker. I couldn't relax until the final whistle. The shots on goal
were wildly favouring Canada but they won by a single goal

No one cheated, BornRuff. The puck did not go over the line. There should have been a penalty shot called but that was the fault of the ref at the net. Since he didn't make the call there was nothing the other refs or officials could do once the non-call was made.

I am quite sure the Latvian goalie got the attention of Steve Y - how he could not when every eye in the building was riveted on him as Canada continually peppered him with shots. Too bad there wasn't a medal for exceptional effort as Gudjevskis certainly deserves one.

Hats off to the Latvians and their goal tender Gudlevskis , amazing effort

yes, amazing for sure, but i was surprised that he didn't have a water bottle, very careless, as he

should have been steadily taking in water, especially the way he was being pushed so hard, no wonder

he was close to exhaustion.

he plays in the ahl, maybe soon he'll be on the tampa bay team, as he was drafted by them.

i guess what he meant was, by putting his hand over the puck, in the crease, he stopped a goal that should
have happened, ref was right there, we could see him looking right down on that play, and he did
nothing about it, that was very puzzling, he couldn't have missed it, he made a decision to do nothing.

Much better explanation than mine, talloola. I was just disputing the claim made of cheating - no one, IMO, cheated. The Latvian player was only doing what many others have done - he wasn't called on it - no penalty shot and no goal.
