As has been pointed out by me and ruff, they were not praying in the street, it was an obvious square that was already blocked off by a stage.
Well, the video does seem to show them in some sort of public square. You can see the protesters are actually on the road surface nearby though.
If you think about it though, you could say the same thing about the German Defense League. Could they not practice their Islamophobia behind closed doors and out of sight?
There is so much anti-Islam stuff going on in the Europe, it shouldn't be surprising that there are some Muslim people who are interested in publicly standing up to this.

I concede on a traffic interruption- I do not concede that this was an interruption of an event. Peaceful yes - disruption - yes
As I mentioned earlier try building a Mosque in France, England and possible Germany - If it was a church, not a problem- No wonder these counties have a problem with Muslims- some, not all is created by the far right, ill educated idiots.
You see 2 reactions - one bending over backwards for the PC crowd and then you have the extremist far right. Both are wrong.
I would also like to hear that answer. It seems like there is no reason that that relatively small group of people praying would cause any disruption at all. It is the huge group of people protesting them that seems to be causing all the ruckus.

Went and checked more video, appears to be a counter demonstration. Until more info is avialable I have to go with that.
It is easy to misinterpret a video.
According to my wife the first part is a muslim prayer and then he goes on to preach from the Koran in German. She couldn't take any more after the 2 minute mark.
I checked around and could not find much info, except for the hate blogs. And I was not going in there.

I think it means it was much ado over nothing. So nothing to discuss. I incorrectly thought buddy who was leading the prayers was using those in front of him who really were praying to spout off about radicalism.
Has anything like the occupation of a public square for impromptu religious sermons happened in Canada?
