But you are now, and obviously you really don't know what Christianity is or you would still be a "Christian". Instead, you believed what people told you instead of what Jesus Christ and God tells you. All the while you continue on in the same path as those that drove you away by trying to drive others away.

No I watched their behavior. I don't care what people believe if it makes them behave better. However that is not what I see in most religious people.

So, you decided that God and Jesus were bullshyte because of what people, who claimed to be believers, did and/or acted.

I know many religious people who do live by their faith and I see others who profess
to be religious and a wolves in sheeps clothing. I don't like the church atmosphere
either and there are tennants of the faith that bother me to the point where I don't
subscribe to the visions or beliefs. Not all Christians are bad people and not all are
good. I think too many subscribe to parroting dogma instead of thinking though.
Was a program last night on PBS that shed some light on how the four books of the
New 'Testimant came about. Constanteen wehn he became Emperor really screwed
things up.

Yep, mostly those wonderful born agains convinced me, and I thank them for freeing me from the fairy story.

So, again, you believed what you were told rather than finding out for yourself. No different than the "born agains". Personally, I'm glad I didn't listen to them.

Christians have been waiting for 2000 years for his return and if they are around that long, they will be waiting for another 2000 years. He ain't coming. The second coming is a process not an event: humanity will some day reach Christ consciousness but we still have a long way to go. At that point we will finally understand what Jesus meant when he said that we would eventually be able to do far more than he was able to accomplish.

Are the atheists so insecure in their lack of faith that they feel they must discredit those that believe. I'm not religious is any way, but some of the zealots who strike out at Christianity are more annoying than the guys who knock on your door after a Friday night drunk.

Everybody annoys somebody. Even a wonderful, caring, well balanced person like me annoys some people on here!8O

Oh, I am not sure this thread is about Christians. Jesus (Yeshua the Nazarene) wasn't a Christian; he was an observant Jew.

And I hate to say it, but a D.D. is often little more than a diploma mill degree.

United Kingdom

In the United Kingdom, Doctor of Divinity has traditionally been the highest religious doctorate granted by universities, usually conferred upon a religious scholar of standing and distinction. It is a higher doctorate generally awarded for accomplishments beyond the Ph.D level.
The Doctor of Divinity degree is awarded in recognition of a substantial body of original research undertaken over the course of many years. Typically the candidate will submit a collection of work which has been previously published in a peer-refereed context and pay an examination fee. The university then assembles a committee of academics both internal and external who review the work submitted and decide on whether the candidate deserves the doctorate based on the submission. Most universities restrict candidacy to graduates or academic staff of several years' standing.
United States

In the United States, Doctor of Divinity is traditionally an honorary degree granted by a church-related college, seminary, or university to recognize the recipient's ministry-orientated accomplishments.
Most American universities award Doctor of Divinity only as honorary degrees. American universities do not have the system of higher doctorates used in the UK and some other universities around the world.


You are correct as far as the US is concerned. The man I'm talking about received his in Britain.
