Canada's Highway of Heroes is Canada's equivalent of Britain's Wootton Bassett. Or Royal Wootton Bassett as it is now called.

Why was she allowed to wear a burkha in a supermarket anyway?

You are not normally allowed to wear a motorcycle helmet or some other face covering in a supermarket in order for the CCTV cameras to be able to see your, so this woman should have been told to remove her burka before entering the store.

It's another case of political correctness triumphing over good old commonsense.

With that statement you are making a good point! -:)

All the same, I'd really appreciate if you could provide a detailed explanation (maybe with a few links) that specifically articulate this conspiracy that the banks funded the wars

Good idea, I'm a little in the dark on that one myself! -:)

If anyone is at all curious about what many think our soldiers did in WWII, just watch that.
They tried not to die, just like the soldiers for the other side. It is the same thing all soldiers do in combat.
And of course you could always look up Appledorn's current program of assigning a Canadian soldiers grave to a student, who learns all about the soldier in that grave, then passes that on to the next generation entering the school system, as they exit it.
Sounds like a decent program. Adds a personal connection.
If you ask that child what it means to remember, and why they remember, they will tell you, Freedom through sacrifice.
Of course they will repeat what is drilled into their heads. It ain't like our system teaches about corrupt politicians and how they are controlled by bankers and how the citizens are debt-slaves in a rigged game.
At the end of the day, politics, bankers, and all the rest of that BS flies out the window, when it's your *** in the grass.
Sure, at that point you just want to keep your a$$ attached to the rest of you.
Anyone that has ever served knows that.
Anyone who has ever been in any situation that threatens your life knows the only goal at the time is to stay alive.

For years I've seen bikers in full face helmets buy gas, buy smokes at convenience stores, run into the GT boutique and grab something.

The laws are obviously different in Canada to Britain, then.

In Britain, we have more of a commonsense attitude to it. We ban people with face coverings from entering stores and banks, as the CCTV needs to be able to see their faces.

The only lack of commonsense is the fact that whereas we ban motorcyle helmets and other face coverings, for some reaon we allow burkhas.

Many people have taken advantage of this strange law by robbing banks whilst wearing burkhas as a disguise.

I might support remembrance day if it commemorated all those who died in war, women, children, the elderly as well as those who fell for the propaganda to fight. As it is, this day only glorifies the stupidity of blind patriotism, and yes... war. I feel sorry for those who got sucked in to giving their lives for the profit of a few, but my heart goes out to all their innocent victims more.
The thing is though Cliffy, I believe this to be true regardless of all of the profit which surrounds the death, blood shed and sacrifice of war:

Wouldn't you like to be able to wear a face mask when entering your library?

And that is your opinion Gerry and I don't have the slightest problem with you running with it (but you might think twice about "selling" it to someone with a functional brain) They may not "buy" it. LOL

I probably can't anymore than you can prove that I am wrong, so we are both spouting opinions, but I don't bad mouth people and call them stupid (generally speaking) for opinions I don't agree with. I personally doubt if Hitler was going to stop once started.

Just that statement by itself says a lot about you, #1 being you miss the whole point of the forum...............you think it's throwing stuff in peoples faces, I think it's more about taking an idea and discussing it and fine tuning it to come to an accurate conclusion, hopefully to people's agreement but if not at least accepting other's opinions. Ranting, raving and swearing only detracts from a person's credibility. You can beat on me all day but it's not going to convince me!

The only difference between the way I express myself, and the way you do, is degrees. You do the same thing I do, but figure if you put a smilie face behind it then it is "ok". You can call people stupid, moron, or brain dead with impunity because you stick a smilie face at the end. You're a hypocrite through and through. There's not many things I dislike more than blatant hypocracy, aside from, maybe, this time of year as it brings the hypocrites out in full force.

"Brave men and women sacrificed their lives so you could have the freedom to spout your vile bullshyte, now shut the fu ck up you useless coward".

Oh ya, that's what they fought and died for all right.

I don't normally call people "stupid", "moron" or "brain dead" and the ones I do have almost without exception attacked me first. If anyone is a coward Gerry go look in the mirror.

Gerry- You have to learn the art of telling people to "F**K off" nicely.-:)

Hitler couldn't have invaded North America for the same reason we can't invade Mars. We can't get there.

Here's what would have happened had Hitler occupied all of Western Europe from Norway to Greece and from Portugal to the Polish/Russian border. The Nazis would have faced constant internal strife, all of their energies would have been taken up with suppressing rebellions, and they would have eventually let their occupied territories go, more or less painfully. Just like every other empire in history.

By the way, that's exactly what did happen, only with the Soviets instead of the Nazis. The Sovs COULD have gotten here. And didn't.
