That is so funny I almost fell off my chair laughing. You guys are so self-centered and focused on what you think of as past glories. Nobody thinks you are traitors. Its your culture, a chip on the shoulder carried by Americans world wide. I think the most accurate description in terms of pop psychology is "insecure".

Is it? You could have fooled me. Most Europeans think your capital city is Toronto.

Pay no attention to taxslave. He's a hippy living on an island backwater sucking on BC bud and claiming the tax structure is unfair to him.

They are, but my ethnic group comes from the Mediterranean.

Nephew to the Godfather are you, "Son of Liberty"?

That's funny, because I just did the same after reading your post.

Actually King George III put that very notion in the thoughts and minds of the British collective. It may not be the basis of the angst a great many British exude towards America, but it very much a part of how it started.

Its your culture, a chip on the shoulder carried by Americans world wide.
LOL, what exactly is the basis of this "chip" you speak of, please elaborate.

I think the most accurate description in terms of pop psychology is "insecure".
LMAO! Are you aware of the contradictions you post?

It was the other way around BL.

No it wasn't. The British allowed the Indians to live peacefully in reservations. When the USA came about and the British left the Americans moved westwards, kicking the Indians off that land and slaughtering them as they went.

And remember, many Indians were allied with the British against you lot. They preferred us to you.

No, we took it back from the British (I know this will irk you till your dying days). The French sold it to us, the Spanish lost and the Mexicans lost as well.

That is funny! The up-and-coming Hispanic demographic bulge is going to wipe the GOP off the face of the earth, and ol' son of a gun wants to start bragging about what America stole from Mexico.

Read Michener's book Texas for how white Texans rounded up and slaughtered Mexican men, women and children to steal their land. It is fiction but well footnoted historical fiction. A good description of American manliness. The gun ethic from then remains embedded in all US forces today.

That's funny. I always thought we looked after the Native Americans and gave them land to live on in peace.

ROFLMFAO, it has now been confirmed, BL knows absolutely nothing about anything beyond the boundaries of his quaint little "european union".

And before you keep banging on about how the horrible British were treating the Native Indians terribly, remember that many Native Indians weren't even given the vote in Canada until the 1960s, long after everybody else.

Ya, it seems our head of state really didn't give a flying fu ck about the First Nations people.

And that asinine comment was derived from?

being an idiot.

Wow, you really are a dreamer.

You get a lot of your historical intel from fiction, don't you?

A good description of American manliness.
As apposed to the Canadian manliness that was used to swindle and starve First Nations people?

being an idiot.
It would seem so.

I sometimes wonder whether they still teach history in American schools. How could the Americans "take back" the United States from the British when there was no United States before the British arrived? All that was there was a few barbaric tribesmen killing and eating one other when the British arrived and set up plantations. Stop taking notice of all that romanticised American history claptrap and start studying real history for once.

General US standards of education, especially in red states, are abysmal. Americans are so pwned by their media they have totally lost track of where fiction ends and history begins, and their education systems don't tell them. Every year one hears or reads of Americans demanding that John Wayne be given a military medal. The man never served a day in uniform in his life. In the 1960's he used to take his converted US minesweeper up to Victoria and go drinking in the Drake Hotel, Victoria's lowest dive, where the local Indians would keep him buying beer all day by making him feel like a hero. It was always the laughing stock of Dockyard and a bunch of the guys would join in for the free booze. The man was desperate for praise.

Much like yourself, lol.

Links please.

So? Civilians are awarded meritorious medals all the time.

Maybe if you didn't get informed by fiction, you would have known that.

Do you ever tire of embarrassing yourself?

Wow, just wow. While I have met few americans that truly know anything about their own history and even far less about world history, you sir, seem to know even less. I would suggest you take your own advice when it comes to "romanticized" history.

Canadians are freer than Yanks.
Oh please do go on.

I'd like to see you defend that position.

I doubt you will though, you seem quite afraid of me, lol.

You mean the First Nations people who feel so hard done by today that in their minds they are at war with Canada?
