the one emotional and uncomfortable (for bombers) time was when the fans started calling for 'buck'
then buck came onto the field, and they stood and cheered him, a nice smack in the face for the
coach/mgr who treated him badly, (at least I think they did)
he's not the best qb in the league, but he is a true 'team' guy, a 'leader', and I am glad lions
rescued him from that bunch, good on them, and good on him, he is well liked and definitely deserved
'better', from the blue bombers organization.

Couldn't agree with you more, talloola - was thinking exactly the same thing myself when I saw the fans standing and cheering for Buck. As the panel were mentioning during the game yesterday, he was their best chance of salvaging the season but the dolts who make the player personnel decisions were too blind or too stupid to see that. I do feel very sorry for Bomber fans as they deserve so much more from their team - though I don't hold the players to blame as much as I do the owners, management and the coaching staff. A good example of which was the decision to pull Max Hall and start Boltus in the second half - this after Hall had finally manged to take the team downfield and score a TD - that, IMO, was a BIG momentum killer for team.

I thought Marcel would be able to help them but you can only do so much with the personnel you are given and unseasoned QBs who are continually being shifted around on the starting roster are not going to get you far.

The Bombers are a complete mess. Football can't get any worse than the product they put on the field.

I thought Montreal's hiring of Dan Hawkins and his subsequent efforts to destroy the Al's was the height of stupidity but the Bomber coaching staff have taken ineptitude to an entirely different level. I cant' imagine how frustrating it must be for vets on the team who are seeing their season fritter away before their eyes in spite of their best efforts - and a few of them do give full effort when they can especially players like Terrence Edwards. Watching him on the sidelines yesterday, head down and disappointment oozing from every pore was almost heart-breaking to see.

It won't be easy deciding on the Game of the Week unless you are a fan of the winning teams and even then none of them were barn-burners for sure.

The week started off with BC's win over the hapless Bombers progressed to the Calgary vs Hamilton game wherein Henry Burris had one of his worst outings in the team's loss to the Stamps. Following that game, the Toronto Argonauts played the Edmonton Eskimos in Commonwealth stadium in a contest that saw Esks QB Mike Reilly leave the contest just before the end of the 2nd Q with what has now been confirmed as a concussion he suffered from a late helmet-to-helmet hit. The Argos went on to beat the Esks 34 to 22.

The final game of the week pitted the Montreal Alouettes against the Saskatchewan Roughriders in another disappointing contest that saw both defences rule most of the day. The score at half-time was 3 to 2. Rider QB Darian Duran had a similar outing to that of Smilin' Hank in that he threw 3 interceptions on the day and was unable to move the ball effectively for most of the game. The Argos prevailed and won the game 17 to 12.

Terribly disappointed in my Riders and have no idea what the problems are that seem to be plaguing the team but after such great start to the season it appears they are back to their old losing ways and fans can only hope and pray that someone in that organization has the smarts to turn the team around.

Dammit, Mowich! You made me a Riders fan, now it's your responsibility to slap them into shape!

LOL! I should have warned you that becoming a Rider fan is fraught with grief and sorrow sometimes relieved by the joy of actually winning a game or two. We either start out strong and falter midway or start out poorly and somehow recover but not quite enough to actually claim a Grey Cup win.

This year after a fabulous start we are once again facing the fact that this team is in trouble. Our QB is not living up to expectations. Our coaches are not able to design plays that work or that the team can execute. The only bright spot is that our defence seems to middling along and our STs have some good games.

Fans on the Rider forum are calling for the firing of everyone from the CEO to the coaching staff and are mad as hell that Drew Willy - our back-up QB is never put in a game even though he just might spark something.

What the future has in store for the Riders is anyone's guess and being a die-hard all I can do is hope and pray that we just might find the answer to the problems and get back on the winning side.

LOL I grew up in SK until the mid-1980s and one thing is always constant about Rider fans. The current backup QB has always been a Grey Cup winner prevented only by the ignorance of the current coach or GM or both for not immediatly playing him. Such has been the case since Ron Lancaster stopped playing QB.

Much truth in what you say, IRBS........though this crop of fans is not saying that Willy can win the Cup for us, more that he should at least be given a chance to try and win one game. Meanwhile, the Riders will have only one practice this week before flying to Vancouver for their meet with the Lions on the weekend.

Game Schedule for Week 15 in the CFL

Friday – Hamilton at Toronto 4 PM PST/ 7 PM EST
Friday – Saskatchewan at British Columbia 7 PM PST/ 10 PM EST
Saturday- Montreal at Edmonton; 12:30 PM PST/ 3:30 PM EST
Saturday- Winnipeg at Calgary; 3:30 PM PST/ 6:30 PM EST

Gibson's Finest Players of the Month Awards.

A really big shout-out to Adam Bighill for capturing the DL Player of the Month. The BC LB easily took the honor after posting a total of 24 tackles; 5 ST tackles; 2 sacks; an interception, 2 forced fumbles and a TD on the month. His best game came in Week 14 when he recorded 10 tackles; a sack; 2 forced fumbles and a 30-yard fumble return for TD. You Rock Big Man. Well done, Adam.

A shout-out to Rene Paredes too. Mr Dependable took Special Team Player of the Month honors after recording 12 of 13 completions in September. Rene leads the league with 152 points; a 95% completion record and has been good on 38 of 40 attempts this season. Rene's best game came in Week 11 when he went 5 of 5 including a 50 yarder. Rock on Rene.

Zach Collaros earned Offensive Player of the Month with 1,043 passing yards; 90/140 attempts for 64.3%; 8 TDs; and 3 interceptions in 4 come-from-behind wins. In doing, the Argos set a record for the first team in CFL history to sweep a 4-game road trip. Zach's best outing was in Week 12 when he threw for 330 yards and 4 TDs.

Jon Cornish garnered Canadian Player of the Month rushing for 398 yards on 58 carries; collected 85 yards and a TD on 13 receptions. Week 11 was Jon's best so far when he rushed 131 yards on 14 carries – 6 receptions for 46 yards and a TD.

The CFL fined two players this past week. TO Argo DL Cleyon Laing was tagged for his helacious hit on Eskimo QB Mike Reilly. As a result of the hit, Mike Reilly is sidelined for the foreseeable future with a concussion. IMO the ash-hat should have been suspended.

And Darian Durant got dinged for what the league is calling an ‘inappropriate’ tweet – actually he used the F word in responding to a ‘fan’ who had slagged him on Twitter. After DD sent his not-well-thought-out response – the fan tried to blackmail him, saying that he would send the tweet to TSN or DD could get him season’s tickets on the 50-yard line. DD manned up in his first interview with the press after the incident. Apparently fans are on his side even though many think he should have shown better judgement – seems a fund has been started to help DD pay the fine. In typical Darian fashion, the funds are being directed to a charity that Geroy Simon sponsors. Rock on DD.

Good bye Chris Williams. The former Ti-Cat has signed with the New Orleans Saints a day after Hamilton came to an agreement that released him from contractual ties with the Cats. Williams spent most of the season suspended by the Cats as he fought to be released from his contract.

Kent Austin remarked “The only comment I’ll make is that Chris Williams hasn’t been relevant to our football club the entire year and he year and he has no relevance to the team right now.” Well said, Kent.

George Reed, former Sask Rider RB who spent 13 years in the Green and White while playing in 4 Grey Cups and leading the CFL in rushing yards nine times, will be invested with the Saskatchewan Order of Merit. Mr Reed is an inductee of both the Saskatchewan and Canadian Sports Hall of Fame. He was invested as a Member of the Order of Canada in 1978. George has spent many of his post-player years working with Canadian and Sask Special Olympics, the Sask Abilities Council as well as various other charitable foundations. Rock on George.

Another weekend of football and another reason to throw things at the TV.

Now, now petros.........chin up.....we've been down this road before ........deep breaths and don't keep anything sharp around. LOL!

No sport gets my blood pressure up like football. Particularly the CFL.

Oh I am so with you on this, Kreskin........my BP is up and down like a freakin' yo-yo during some CFL games.......and they don't have to be Rider games either.........though my team can be almost detrimental to my health at times - unfortunately. ;-)

I don't get mad, I get disappointed.

Mad, disappointed, frustrated, dumb-founded........all of them can spike my BP.

My brother always use to say that the BC Lions ruined his life lol. He wanted to sue them.

Whoa! That's really taking things seriously, Kreskin though I would not be the least bit surprised if some Rider 'fans' didn't feel exactly the same way........judging by what I read on the Rider forum.

We Won! My Riders beat the Lions and gave them their first loss at home. I am so proud of the team and the coaches. This was one of the most important games of the season for our guys and they came through for us - on the road. Good on them. I am so happy!

It appears that Kory and Jock are key elements to our offense and STs - though our defense was solid most of the night racking up 4 sacks and holding the BC offense to just 17 points.

Final Score: 31 to 17

Last week it was Bad Hank.......this week Good Hank came out to play and helped lead the Ti-Cats to a victory over the TO Argos in the first game of Friday's double-header. Brandon Issac, in his first game with the Ti-Cats since being traded by the Argos, registered 2 sacks and five tackles against his former team.

All of TO's previous wins had come in the second half but this time the Hamilton defence stopped them in their tracks and the Ti-Cat offense sealed the deal when Hank connected with Bakari Grant for the game winning TD.

Hamilton 33 - Toronto 19

Rock on Ti-Cats

The first game of today's double-header pits the Eskimos against the Alouettes. Edmonton will have Mike Reilly back as their starter in the QB position.

Following the Esk vs Mon game, the Blue Bombers will take on the Calgary Stampeders in what many prognosticators are calling a foregone conclusion that the Stamps win. Would love to see the Bombers prove them wrong.

I had a feeling the rookiness of DeMarco would show up sooner or later. But not all was his fault, Shell on special teams couldn't stop taking penalties. Some of them outright dumb.

The Riders are a simply better team this year than BC. They completely owned that game.

We will see what happens when the Lions get Travis back, Kreskin........he could quickly change their fortunes around. I agree that the Riders played the better game on Friday but can they sustain the momentum? Our next game is against the Eskimos who will have nothing to lose now that their play-off hopes are all but dashed. Could be a very interesting contest if Mike Reilly has a better game.

Chances are that the Eskimos saw any hope of making the play-offs this year fade into the distance as they lost their most important game of the season to the Montreal Alouettes yesterday. The Esks would have to win everyone of their remaining four games and have the Als lose their next four in order to win a play-off berth in the Eastern Division - simply can't see that happening.

I think most CFL fans were quite surprised to hear that Mike Reilly would be back as starter for the Esks after suffering a concussion last week. Reilly threw 2 interceptions in the first half and by the start of the second had been pulled in favor of Crompton who finished the game in pivot for Edmonton. It made little difference as Montreal were all ready up 31 to 3 at the intermission.

Edmonton did manage to put up a three majors in the second half but Montreal put up one more of their own to seal the win and take the game 47 to 24.

The Eskimos will play the Riders at Mosaic next week while the Alouettes will play Winnipeg at home.

***********

Jon Cornish did all he could to help the Calgary Stampeders win their game against the Winnipeg Blue Bombers yesterday and it was good enough for him to claim top spot in the standings for most rushing yards this season. Jon ran for 208 yards and had a pair of TDs in the game. He now leads Kory Sheets by 113 yards.

The Stamps racked up a total of 623 yards on offense against Winnipeg's 290 and had twice as many first downs as the Bombers.

Rene Paredes helped the Stamps in their win when he was good on all three of his FG attempts from the 46, 14 and 35-yard lines.

The Stamps closed off their season against the Eastern division teams with a 7 and 1 record.

Final Score: 38 to 11 for the Stamps.

Calgary will play the BC Lions at home next week while the Bombers will meet the Alouettes in Montreal - a win by Montreal will eliminate the Bombers from play-off contention.

I don't disagree with you on DeMarco, petros - even the 'elite' QBs have their bad days. Still, I think that Lulay has the better chance of keeping the Lions in the play-off race.
