Not you, gerryh. I calculate there ain't a power in the 'verse can get you off your pedestal.maybe for some it might.
Goes back further'n that. At Versailles, a young leader from French Indochina sought a meeting with President Wilson to ask him to back independence for colonial possessions. Wilson refused to see him.
His name? Ho Chi Minh.
No, I haven't. On your recommendation, I'll give it a look.I realize it went way back his fighting for independance.
Have you read the 10,000 Day War?
You can discuss anything you want. American atrocities? Go for it. Sand Creek. Wounded Knee. Rosewood. The whole Mexican-American and Spanish-American Wars. Various "interventions" for the sake of the Dole Fruit company, Alcoa, Kennecott Copper, and various others in Central and South America and the Caribbean.
World War I atrocities. Far as I'm concerned, us being in WWI at all was an atrocity.
World War II atrocities. Ditto, at least for the European side. Wasn't none of our business.
Korea. Vietnam. Panama. Grenada. Iraq, both times.
And countless li'l domestic things. Lynching. The Indian schools. Forced sterilisation. Medical experimentation.
See why I said I didn't think we had enough time?
No, I haven't. On your recommendation, I'll give it a look.
Natchez... Ft. William Henry...Cherry Valley...Dearborn...Pidgeon Roost...Dakota War 1862... Deerfield...
I don't think we have enough time after all.
Um. . . point of order. Self-righteous Canadians, are war crimes committed by the Confederacy laid at the door of America, or only war crimes by the Union?
I guess you can own them both since you were one country before and one country after. Do you really need to go back that far? Are the deaths caused by american bombs etc around the world since 1900 not enough to satiate your blood thirst?
Thank you. OK, Andersonville is totally in.I guess you can own them both since you were one country before and one country after.
Well, do you want a complete record or not?Do you really need to go back that far?
Maybe. Obama backed down on Syria. Are the deaths caused by american bombs etc around the world since 1900 not enough to satiate your blood thirst?
No... lets start with the Somali Incident. Discuss.
I already did. Either your reading comprehension or your memory is letting you down.
1 man went to Jail- He was Native - I met him a number of years back- We talked for quite some time. Bring yourself up to speed on Somalia.I already did. Either your reading comprehension or your memory is letting you down.
In Canada a couple of rogue soldiers committed an atrocity by torturing several fence raiders. They were caught. The Canadian system tried them publicly, held a national enquiry and disbanded the regiment.
In America units like Tiger Force committed systematic atrocities over a lengthy period, killed and tortured women and children, wore the ears and scalps of dead Vietnamese as trophies, and the US chain of command gave them career advancement and medals. When the incidents were reported they were covered up. That kind of behaviour continued after the Vietnam War and is now proven to be part of the American national military ethic. Being a 21st Century US Marine or soldier carries the same stigma as being a member of the 1940's German SS.
Canada reacted honourably, America responded dishonourably. That's the difference.
Care to discuss, or have we topped out your intellectual and moral resources?
