News around the league .......
It didn't take long for Canadian kicker/punter Hugh O'Neill to land a new job after he was fired by the Lion's - he signed up with the Edmonton Eskimos this past week - outta give Grant Shaw something to think about.
The Calgary Stampeders will be w/o both Nik Lewis who suffered a broken fibula in last week's game against the Lions and Jon Cornish who will be out w/ a contused thigh. Both Jon and Nik are play-makers for their team - their explosiveness and ability to beat the opposing D are heart and center of the team. Heal fast guys.
Winnipeg announced that they will be sticking with Max Hall as pivot for this week's game against the Ti-Cats, his second start at the position this year. Let's hope Marcel has designed some great plays for Max and that the team can find some consistency on offense. The Bombers also signed ex-Ti-Cat DB Bo Smith to the team this week. Over his five years with the Cats, Bo played in 56 games and had 168 tackles, 1 forced fumble, 6 interceptions and 2 fumble recoveries as well as 13 pass knock-downs.
Montreal Alouettes will be missing a total of 8 players this week. Anthony and Brandon London are out with concussions - no word on when they will return. The Als will also be w/o Hebert and Bourke - knee injuries; Martin Bedard - shoulder and Jonathan Beaulieu-Richard, Bryn Roy and Brandon Denson - not sure what the injuries were on the last three. Tough news for the Als who are still w/o Jamal Richardson and will be for awhile yet as he recovers from surgery on his knee. Wish these guys a speedy recovery.
The news all of Rider Nation has been waiting for - with bated breath, I might add - is that Rob Bagg suffered a sprained knee - no tear - though he is still questionable for the game on Sat. Thank you Universe - Rock on Rob.
