I just noticed them yesterday. I've been told they have been in the stores now for a week or so. These sweet onions are only in the stores for a week or so.

Why only a week. And what makes them different from any other sweet onion?

I've had Vidalias and several others, but none are as sweet as Walla Wallas. The time element is that they don't have a long shelf life.
Don't buy a couple dozen large Walla Wallas. They won't keep long. We buy them maybe twice in the Summer....great on hamburgers.

I have them growing in my backyard, have started eating them now.

Did you buy seedlings or did you start from seeds? I've always bought seedlings. Didn't get any this year,
I left it too late.

Juan, if you look out your window in about 5 minutes you'll see a DC3 flying over (assuming it heads anywhere near your house).

Bing Bang Walla Walla Bing.

Named for the Washington city, these sweet onions originated on the Island of Corsica off the west coast of Italy. The seeds were brought to Walla Walla (Native American for "many waters") in the late 1800s. Law also controls the marketing of Walla Walla Sweet onions, which must be grown in a specified area of the Walla Walla valley to claim the name. This variety is available from June through August.

Meh. I like onions that bite back. Not much of a sweet tooth type person.

If you like onions, I guarantee you'll like these.

These onions are fairly easy to grow and you can buy the seeds at any Buckerfields store. A little late to star seeds now.
