I can't even make sense of the title of the thread, but then nothing about Lizzy May amazes me! -:)

Re: Minor incident overblown ny Lizzie May on Twitter

Exactly 'who' blew this entire episode out of proportion here?

Lizzy May is supposed to be a responsible Member of Parliament; instead, she has proven that she's nothing more than a high-school gossip monger

A moderator starting a topic should take the basic effort to determine what he/she is writing about. This ;quantity over quality ' approach is getting lame.

BTW- Elizabeth at 23

So she's' pushing 60- doesn't do 'big hair and makeup ' and smile behind Harpo's speeches...

Sheesh....

There is more pressure on Lizzy to make that effort in the first place.

All she did was successfully make a fool of herself and her wannabe Federal party.

I like the fact that there was some form of coverage on this as opposed to the perpetual CBC coverage of Harper or how he didn't use Canadian made mustard on his ham sammich and is therefore killing the mustard industry in Canada.

You must have spent a helluva long time digging-up that little treasure from 37 years ago.

Has May done anything of significance since then?

Seems to me that the CPC has been doing extraordinarily well since she's been gone and her - ah, party (for lack of a better word) is not exactly, ummmm - 'relevant' (shall we say)

I can't help but wonder if she was the weak link here

Hoping and praying that I wasn't gonna be a daddy because of the weekends shenanigans

I expect that CBC will be investigating this heinous possibility... Maybe Lizzy can tweet some of her 'facts' to help the new story along

Changes nothing about her twitchy twitter-finger as a way to become relevant by crying and bemoaning that no one is covering the 20 car wreck. Careless drama queen.

Did you ever learn to wrap that rascal?

Los Angeles Archery Society? Lower Alabama Algebra Specialists? Last American Arms Shipment?

Just guessin'.

Some company in Alberta that got swollowed up about 6 years ago. Apparently the leftards feel Harper should have blocked the sale. Seems the left feels government should interfere in private buiness deals , preferably with taxpayers money. They never want to put their own money where their mouths are though.

Down hereabouts, the right feels the same way. To the tune of $800,000,000,000.

Caning is an illegal practice in Canada... You're thinking of Singapore

The private schools didn't let that stop them. When I was a kid the Shawnigan Lake Boys' school was on my paper route, and occasionally when delivering papers a couple of the boys would be getting a sound thrashing. On the whole they were quite well behaved. I'm not sure if that still happens there.

I would expect this from the Green Party as they are not a Political Party they are a
social movement. It will be fifty years before they evolve into a practical political
party.
For the Greens its not there was a derailment with a problem. There was a derailment
all rail with oil is bad. All oil in the tar sands is bad, all oil with a pipeline is bad and the
truth is the use of oil is bad.
So is burning wood or fracking for natural gas. All bad the more we can put it in the
spotlight serious or not we can prove its bad, dangerous and be afraid.
There is a solution everyone should have their own windmill in the backyard and a solar
panel. Never mind in order for you to buy it it would have to be transported using oil
which is bad.
The Greens are a fringe party at best and they are courted by the NDP at times for votes
and if the latter party were smart they would clear a path between themselves and the
greens, but then if they cleared a path they would contribute to global warming.
If this sounds ridiculous to you, you still have a chance, the greens want you to accept
and believe in the Green Religion even if it bankrupts us all. One empty car going off
the track is a major problem if you can paint a picture that paints a backdrop over the
reality of what they are about.

So to recap... "Why is no one reporting what I've been told was a big incident?"......."Follow up- Apparently because it was a minor one."

Ya know, there's times where the partisan tilt of the media spinning these stories is so steep as to be laughable. I hope certain people see that while they chase posters like Cobalt Kid around the forum complaining about his biases, theirs are hanging out too.

A minor incident in Sarnia's CN Rail yard recently was greatly exaggerated by a tweet from national Green Party leader Elizabeth May over the weekend, says a miffed Mayor Mike Bradley.

He sent out a curt email response to May when it became clear that she had taken a phone call from “a source” at face value and had tweeted Saturday that Sarnia was the scene of a 20-car derailment.
“Very disappointed with your tweeting a rumour...,” Bradley's email said.

CN Rail reported that a set of wheels derailed on a single empty tank car during a slow moving yard operation in the Sarnia yard around 3 p.m. Friday. There were no injuries and no impact on operations.
However, May – who has more than 68,000 followers on her Twitter account – tweeted: “Why is no one reporting the train derailment in Sarnia yesterday? My sources say 20 cars jumped the track.”

Given the potential significance of an incident that large and the recent train tragedy in Lac Megantic Quebec, Bradley said the national media were quick to react to May's erroneous tweet and he fielded numerous reporters' calls Saturday.

“Because she is the leader of a political party, she gives it credibility,” he said. “When she sent out that tweet, it got all the media in a frenzy. There should be a correction out from her office by now.”

When contacted by The Observer Monday, May's chief of staff Deborah Eindiguer said the Green Party leader had acted on the word of a single source who she would not name.

“The source is not willing to go public,” Eindiguer said. She said May did not attempt to contact CN before she tweeted about the incident in the rail company's yard.

Afternoon H,

I'd really love to provide you with all the details on your query, and in response to your statement on my 'swinging big conservative weight' and having 'deep access'... Well, yes, I can't lie about that (we Conservatives never lie - it's part of the contract).

Regrettably, I've been put in charge of organizing some of the social activities at the upcoming Bildeberg Conference in XXXX (sorry - it's a secret location). As such, I just don't have enough time in the day to accomplish all of these responsibilities on top of being a Captain of Commerce.

Truth be told, we are also coming up with a new secret handshake. That too is one of the responsibilities I have been handed (man - I hate it when Steve-o gets drinking too much rye - he signs me up for this kind of thing)

You can appreciate the gravity of the mandate that I have been handed. The social activities are an integral part of the Conference and I have promised that this year's will be one that will not soon be forgotten! (We'll be having special sammiches that are a cross between Philly Cheesesteak and 7-11 Hoagies.... You're jealous, I can tell).

Posting pics of Justin Trudeau in a Stormtrooper's helmet is seriously uncalled for.
