"Mike Duffy and the Conservative way" is a joke. He's not conservative, he's ample!
He was appointed by Harper and the PMO and other senators appointed by the PM and in some cases very close to him personally tried to prevent an investigation into the expense scandal and then whitewash the report.
Mike Duffy was taking advantage of the lack of oversight and accountability that has become prevalent under Harper, he and some other senators obviously thought they could claim whatever they felt like with no comebacks.
coffee spit ♦The little fat f**ker should be rendered down for axle grease!
It makes you wonder if there's a manual provided to all conservative MPs and Senators on how to avoid taking any responsibility for their elected and appointed positions...kind of like the memo that was circulated among the conservative caucus during the early years of the current conservative government on how to shut down Parliament.
There's really something wrong when any party acts as if Parliament is the enemy that must be defeated at any cost. In a sense all Canadians are the Parliament as the members we elect represent us there. By constantly attacking the free functioning of Parliament the conservative government is in fact attacking all of us.
Like every senator, Duffy pulled down at least $130,000.00. Somehow he accumulated an expense deficit of $90,000.00 which
Wright paid off for him. Be interesting to know what he did with his own money. It would also be interesting to know why Harper jumped so quickly to distance himself from the whole mess. So much for party solidarity. Was Wright acting to save the party embarrasment or was he trying to save his own a$$ as well? Things are starting to smell and only Harper can clean it up.

I figured they forced him to take the hit, gawd only knows at that level you all must have enough dirt on each other to protect your own azz except when the whole house of cards starts to crumble.Like every senator, Duffy pulled down at least $130,000.00. yes it is likely true, 'to a degree' business operates that way too; get the job done, I don't care HOW you get the job done and don't tell me...but these are the specific results I want...so yeah it was his decision..."sort of"
It's really very simple- They are all a bunch of f**king crooks right from the top to the bottom.
If he was rendered down, slow and easy like, I think the end result would be a piece of shxt. The little fat f**ker should be rendered down for axle grease!

So, that being the case, why do we put up with it? Why not a complete armed revolt like other countries? Are we too polite? Why do we even show up at election time if we are only choosing the crook we believe will screw us the least.
Some people wonder why I support things like the Freeman movement and this is a fine example. Our govt is corrupt from start to end and I don't see any reason to do anything they say or ask because they do NOT represent me.
But the decision came only after the Conservative Party of Canada considered paying the bill for Duffy's inappropriately claimed expenses when it was thought he owed $32,000. The party has a fund controlled by Duffy's colleague in the upper chamber, Senator Irving Gerstein.
When the amount owed jumped to $90,000, the party decided it was too much to cover. Duffy was concerned he didn't have the money to cover the reimbursement, the lawyers told the RCMP, and he was also worried that if he didn't claim a primary residence in Prince Edward Island, his eligibility for a Senate seat would be at risk.
Harper says he didn't know about Wright giving the money to Duffy until it was revealed in the media and in question period on May 28. The prime minister said Wright made the decision on his own and kept the matter to himself until May 15.
But the court documents say Wright let the RCMP know on June 21 that he told Gerstein and three people in Harper's office that he was going to write Duffy a cheque: David van Hemmen, Chris Woodcock, and Benjamin Perrin.
The RCMP investigator says in the court document that he believes the conditions attached to the payment offer back up the idea that there was an agreement between Wright and Duffy involving the $90,000 and the Senate report that ended up not being critical of the Prince Edward Island senator.
It has been reported in the media that Duffy agreed to say publicly he made a mistake and was paying the money back in exchange for Wright actually paying the money and a Senate report that would go easy on him.
This would amount to fraud on Duffy's part, according to the RCMP, and his per diems and his housing allowance that he should not have claimed would be breach of trust.
A draft report on Mike Duffy’s expenses clearly shows a Conservative-dominated committee removed several key sentences that would have cast the PEI senator in a more negative light.
A copy of the report obtained by The Globe and Mail contains 10 paragraphs, whereas the final version from the Senate internal economy committee has only seven.
Sources have laid out how Stewart Olsen put forward a motion at the larger, closed-door internal economy committee to remove some of the most pointed language in its report on Duffy. The Liberals did not support that final report.
The decision was made to leave the language in reports on former Conservative Patrick Brazeau and former Liberal Mac Harb as a way to try and recoup moneys owed, Stewart Olsen said. Duffy had already repaid $90,000.
