Back in the 50s and 60s there were plenty of Americans who were jailed, lost their jobs, and some who lost their lives either through murder or suicide due to government intrusionism into their lives.

No. What I will admit is that you are obtuse and have no sense of nuance or sarcasm.
actually Walter he was just being unreasonably hopeful like was I that you could see there are no lines in politics except 'them" and the "public" and the "pulbic" is us the little guy not them of the "wealthy" persuasion. And us the little guy get screwed over lately by every party.
