Earth day is neither a policy nor a law, yet you have already said you'll keep on lights that you presumably would otherwise turn off, wasting money and lightbulb life, just to show how much you hate people who support reducing energy consumption.
The Earth is finite. We cannot just keep taking and taking and expect there to be no consequences. We continue on this path of mindless consumerism at our own peril. Maybe we won't personally see the day when we will run out, but our children or grandchildren will.
Hate the policy not the people.
It's your choice to turn off your lights and furnace; let's keep it that way.

The funny part is that "conservatives" used to be people who were careful with money, careful with resources. "Waste not, want not" was one of their favourite sayings. "Repair, don't replace" was another. But now the right wing, through their hatred and fear of the left, has abandoned their own principles and deliberately waste just to show how "free" they are.
The earth accumulates matter. It is thirty percent bigger then when dinosaurs and giants lived. However this is no reason to abandon the good stewardship you recommend. A commendable practice which I and my team fully support, however this does not mean that I condone the deplorable and dishonest habit of celebrating a greenwashed day brought to us by pricks thieves and liars. Fornicate the lot of them.
I will do whatever I normally would do. I am not going to sit in the dark but I am not going to do a blaze of glory like Walter even though electicity is included in my rent.
Yes conservatives were driven extinct in Canada over a decade ago only to be replaced by fascists in fake conservative clothing.
And that's the sensible response. Contrary to Wally's assertion, Earth Day is not a law, and it is not a policy. Not using more than you need is just good sense. If you don't feel like participating in a mostly symbolic environmental gesture, don't.
But doing the opposite just to prove what a jerk you are simply gives those you hate power over you.

I will be burning a pile of old tires, since there is no way to get them out of the environment. Recycling is a cruel joke designed to make you believe that hiding cans bottles and diapers under soil in landfills is a green practice, it's not. If you simply tossed all your garbage into your yard or your neighbours the signifigant fuel savings, garbage trucks, would actually be environmentally sound and friendly.
