Does it make a difference who the next Pedophile Protecting Pope will be?

I don't think the Pope did any such thing but there are accusations that Joseph Ratzinger did hide or at least knew about hiding pedophiles in his former position. That is why some people would like to see him brought to justice. The OP is a bad title as there is no proof that he is or was a pedophile. The OP title is definitely a troll. And, seeing as Joseph Ratzinger is of feeble health, bringing him to face those charges would be pointless.

Yep, kind of makes one think of the Kangaroo trials of the Old West. I thought most people had progressed beyond that way of thinking, just as most people have quit believing everything they read. -:)

Personally, I find the morals of someone who creates a hate-mongering thread about non-taxpayers - and who refused to clarify who it is he condemns - somewhat less the authority to speak about morals

I'm pretty sure there were residential schools where these attrocities were not committed. I've never seen any numbers. Are there any published anywhere?

Maybe he figures he can buy his way into a special corner of Heaven!

You can't be a Canadian.
We care about those who rape our children although you would not know it from many on this board.

Regards
DL

Obviously nobody but you cares about our children. The way you can tell is that the rest of us don't use inflammatory, sensationalist tabloid-esque threads to try and make a point.

Have to appreciate the level of arrogance it takes for someone to use over the top rhetoric in order to claim some kind of moral superiority.

I suspect that you have no idea what you are talking about.

Suspect?

You're not the only one.

Maybe before a guy goes around wielding a sledge hammer, it may be wise to find out who is guilty and to what degree of what!

A really ignorant fu*king thread!

You have a religion with a few hundreds of millions of members and some atrocities are committed by possibly a few hundred deviate members and people want to tar the entire herd with the same brush. How ignorant can people be? Can someone please post a link connecting even one of these attrocities to a Pope? There's a chance to put up or shut up!

The point you are missing is the additional anger, and may I say from many Catholics as well, is the cover ups. Yes the acts of buggery and molestations of children were committed by possibly less than 50% of the ordained members but the subsequent cover ups, possibly not revealed as high as the Pope but certainely to his assistants, is equally obscene and those acts warrant the whole Church as deviant.

And the reallity is most lay Catholics in North America see the problem and have quietly slipped away from the Church to do their own thing. The Catholic Church's best opportunity for growth remains in Africa and Asia where the news of these issues hasn't touched those people yet.

Bishops investigating US nuns have poor records on sex abuse cases

"Bishop Robert Finn of Kansas City, Mo., remains in his office despite his conviction in criminal court, where he drew a suspended sentence for failure to report suspected sexual abuse of children. Benedict has not punished any of the hierarchs who recycled so many sex offenders by sending them to other parishes."

--------------

Law, who refused to comment for this article, has not spoken to the press in 10 years. He resigned as Boston archbishop in December 2002 and spent 18 months living at a convent of nuns in Maryland, with periodic trips to Rome. In 2004, the Vatican rewarded him with a position as prefect of Santa Maria Maggiore, a historic basilica; he took an active role in several Roman Curia boards, and became a fixture on the social circuit of embassies in Rome.

Boston was a staggering mess. Settlements and other expenditures related to abuse cases there have cost about $170 million. Mass attendance since 2002 has dropped to 16 percent. Declining financial support has caused a storm of church closings, from nearly 400 parishes in 2002 to 288 today (soon to be organized into 135 "parish collaboratives").

Six years after Law found redemption in Rome, clergy abuse cases exploded in Europe.
"You have suffered grievously and I am truly sorry," Pope Benedict XVI wrote to Catholics of Ireland in a letter on March 19, 2010, as the Irish reeled from a government report on a history of bishops concealing clergy predators. "Your trust has been betrayed and your dignity has been violated," the pope continued.

I'll bet this is how Jim Jones came across and convinced the mindless to follow him to oblivion

Just arrogance? SLM, you are being too kind.

Add in ignorance, vanity, an egotistical personality, narrow-minded and frightened and you might have barely scratched the surface.

You see, people like FP and tay (see post above) feed off of the negativity in the world. They choose a target and not unlike a rabid dog, tear away at it without thought or understanding in order to foster a sense of worthiness and value in their own miserable little lives.

Having no sense of self esteem, accomplishment nor ever tasting success in their stark lives, they seek to artificially raise themselves by attempting to lower others.

It's sad to observe, but as the record now shows, it morphs from sad to pathetic in being exposed to the never-ending attention seeking by the usual suspects.

What it says to me, very simply, is that it's easier to destroy than to construct. Why bother with attempting constructive dialogue when it's so much easier to open with an insult and then act all 'offended' when people don't react well to it.

We can all react emotionally to things, we're human beings and our emotions are a part of us. The part of the behaviour that I find the most annoying, and I often speak out against, is the totally obtuse manner in which offense is offered under the guise of discussion then, when it elicits a negative response, the audacity to act all surprised and shocked. If someone wants to go around insulting people, then go around insulting people, but man (or woman) up when it comes back to bite you in the ***.
