FYI. This is a short list of what Mr Harper has done for the native community.
Mr. Harper, they point out, was the first prime minister to stand up in the House of Commons and apologize for the Residential Schools system. He was the first to endorse the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples. He was the first to extend the Canadian Human Rights Act to aboriginals living on reserves. He was the first to appoint an Innu Cabinet minister and the first to have two aboriginal ministers in Cabinet at the same time. Sporting yellow face-paint and a feathered headdress, he was the first sitting prime minister to be named an honourary chief.

At 8:56 pm ET Andrew Coyne published a story in the National Post here:

To me it looks like he at best lifted my ideas and at worst plagiarized me.
Read my post and then Coynes subsequent article and decide for yourself.
At the very least it looks like the idea was originally presented here on Canadian Forums and the followed up on by the national media.

Idle No More looks very much like a serious attempt to completely end run the legitimate governance of Grand Chief Shaun Atleo by opening a second front against whitey and then making the Grand Chiefs look both reduntant and irrelevent".

taxpayer funds. The CHC paid for housing on the reserve yet they see pictures of shacks
and people living in squalor and they don't ask any questions they appear to have just
sent more money, meaning business as usual. The government looks bad here or should

Now the other side of the coin, in a relatively short space of time governments forked over
somewhere around one hundred million dollars,that is a hell of a lot of money especially if
there is little or nothing to show for it. Where did the money go? It could well be fraud or
just complete mismanagement. There should have been enough money to pay for all the
reserve housing required. For a hundred million there should have been enough money
to start businesses period. If the money didn't solve the problems where did the money go?

What disturbs me is that I'm a pretty bright guy and I can't make sense of this stuff. What's going on at Attawapiskat? I don't know, I've seen too many conflicting reports. What does Chief Spence want? I don't know, I've seen too many conflicting reports. What is Idle No More up to? I don't know, I've seen too many conflicting reports, though it does seem clear to me that blocking bridges and highways is a stupid tactic, all it'll do is annoy the people whose support and empathy you need. I think a hunger strike is a stupid tactic too, "I'll kill myself if you don't give me what I want." Well, what are you, 5 years old? If you die you won't get it anyway, maybe you should try something else.
........Heard it referred to a "sort of" hunger strike. Pretty goddam funny if she didn't hurt so many people just by association. Not to mention taxpayers, just because, well, we have to pay.. .

Our hearts should be bleeding for Canada and what we could have done. The old "peace, order, and GOOD GOVERNANCE", thing.
What's not generally recognized is that Canada IS a colonial power in the style of Victorian Britain, it's just that all our colonialism happened within our own borders so except for a few academics almost nobody understands that, and the circumstances of our aboriginal people are a consequence.

Spence spokesman suggests audit is wrong
Spence's spokesman, Danny Metatawabin, suggested that the audit was "absolutely," wrong but wouldn't comment further on its contents.
He also agreed with a suggestion that the audit was released to discredit Spence.
"The government's doing that," he said. "They're trying to undermine the process, the movement of the people."
"You have to understand what we're doing here. It's for all First Nations communities under the treaty, the nation to nation relationship," he said. "We should be undermining the prime minister. We should be undermining the Department of Indian Affairs for creating that injustice."
