An audit has been done. The government has it, they have not made it public.
The Band's auditors provided the financial reporting as requested by their client (Spence). The gvt can (and do) demand opportunity to audit the books of a company/group as well and will often question the logic of the accounting group that provided the original reports.
In the end, the principle is no different than Enron and how they got in trouble... They too had a large accounting firm do their books (read: audit) but upon further analysis, the IRS uncovered enough to sink the entire company.
Ultimately, if Spence has nothing to hide, this would be a non-issue; but seeing that she is willing to camp-out on an island outside Ottawa and starve herself (as per her 'hunger strike'), it's pretty much a slam dunk that she is got something that she doesn't want the auditors finding out
